How do I attatch pics???

I am new here and I would love to share pics of myself on the ampic forum, but when I try to post them it says that my file is too big. Any ideas?

Step 1: go to www.irfanview.com to download and install irfanview

step2: open the picture you want to attach with Irfanview.

Step3: Click on Image->Resize and enter 600 for the largest pixel dimension. Insure the units are set to pixels and "preserve aspect ratio is checked, then click OK.

Step 4: Click File->Save As. chnge the filename to preserve your origanal image and Choose JPeG from the pull-down list of file types. Then Click OK.

Step 5: check the properties of the new image file to insure that it less than 100KB by right-clicking and selecting Properties from the menu.

Step 6: create a new post and attach the new image file.

Where did it fail?

Unfortunately, irfanview doesn't come in a Macintosh version, so if your an Apple user, you need to adapt to an image processing program that will run on your machine.

One thing I forgot to mention: do not preview a post after you specify the file to attach! If you must preview you posts, attach the file AFTER you preview. Previewing your posts erases the attachment field.
