Hope you’re all doing well! I have a bit of a funny story (or, well, maybe it's not that funny and more just me being oblivious). Anyway, someone recently asked me how I got into writing- hotwife genre.

And you know what? I completely blanked. I mean, I've been writing it for a while now, and I really enjoy it. I just have lot of stuff I can write in this space.

It made me wonder, though. How do writers find their niches? Is it something that just organically happens? Or is there a specific moment, a story, a character, an experience that just clicks and sparks a whole new world of writing for you?

But now I’m super curious about how everyone else got here (or…got anywhere, in terms of their writing genres!).

Was there a specific event or a spark of inspiration? Or did it develop gradually?

I'm genuinely curious to hear how others found their way into writing the kinds of stories they write. Share your stories! Please!

My approach is that I write what I'd like to read. That began with Fantasy here on Lit. But then I wrote a slightly creepy Voyeur story, and it got me thinking about the mindset of a voyeur: the anticipation of getting to see something, the nervousness about being caught, the sense of connection with the person they're watching. So I decided to write a less creepy one, and then another, and so on, exploring all the various possibilities. Now voyeurism seems to come up in most of my stories, in one form or another.

Oh, and I like writing about demons. Sometimes in combination with voyeurism.

In my case there was definitely a specific event. At age 76 I experienced a sudden resurgence of eroticism, resulting in a number of intense fantasies over a period of months. The details are explained here in my Afterword for Twelve Maxbridge Street.

I've included the appendix too because BDSM doesn't really define my niche. It's quite narrow and the appendix includes some refinements of the description. And, hey, how often does someone ask you to tell them about yourself??? :)

Note: The Story of O is no longer my favorite bit of erotica. It is now The Enslaving of Eli by billierosie.

Also, this was written 4 years ago. I'm 80 now, and have twelve stories here on Literotica. But I haven't written any for almost a year. This time I really do think I'm done.

AFTERWORD

I'm sure this book is a one-off. I won't be writing any more. I'd like to tell you the story of how it came about and ask you some questions.

I'm a 76 year old happily married heterosexual woman with two grown children and four incredible grandchildren. My fantasy life has always centered around masochism, but I had never taken the male point of view with the exception of a short period in elementary school when I was on a Robin Hood kick. I've never attempted, nor felt the desire to act out my fantasies with other real human beings.

At my age my fantasies had gotten less frequent, understandably. But in the week before Christmas of 2020 and into the first week of 2021 my consciousness, day and night was suddenly flooded with the story you've just read. I would experience strong erotic spasms like John Faranger does. This was a dramatic first for me in regards to the intensity, the constancy and the duration of the fantasy. I refined the details until I began to entertain the idea of writing it down. I took a lot of pleasure in the pure writing aspect of it. And I still do. I tweak it from time to time and am preparing to issue a new revision as soon as I get this Afterward tidied up. So if you are inclined to re-read it, please download a new copy.

It took some time to get over the hump of writing and publishing it with absolutely no chance of being discovered, even if I suddenly died. But I did get over the hump. Learning that I could publish an ebook very easily and "sell" it for free was a big deal. (I can't afford to receive 1099s, no matter how small.)

One question I have for you, my readers, is has anything like this ever happened to you? Both the suddenness and the male perspective? Please answer in a review or e-mail.

The second question is this. Did the inclusion of a straight love story enhance or spoil the book for you? I had never had fantasies about vanilla romance in my life. So to have Sandra turn into the important person in John's life that she did was a surprise to me. She started out as a means to get him cleaned up between stations. But I was extremely satisfied with what happened in the Love and Life chapters. Did you notice the use of "perfect" in both the opening and ending paragraphs of the story? I didn't notice it myself until it was done.

Thank you! And please write a review, pro or con, or contact me at MHKeplar@gmail.com.

P. S. It is now five months later and it turns out that Twelve Maxbridge Street is not a one-off. The hormonal surge that triggered it had largely faded when I undertook to come up with a new fantasy. I imagined a man, standing naked, on display. There it was, and slowly the story in Naked unfolded, to be followed by The Recurrence, published in one book, Naked and The Recurrence.

Once again, I'm almost certain that there will be no more books. But I've added "almost" to my prediction.

APPENDIX

I've received feedback from more than one person to the effect that "men don't experience erotic large muscle spasms the way women do." I did a little online research and here is my response:

1 - Men do experience such contractions when the prostate is directly stimulated. There are a number of videos on the internet that illustrate this phenomenon.

2 - Women can experience them in the absence of physical stimulation. I am evidence of that.

3 - Men can experience a genital orgasm in the absence of physical stimulation. (Wet dreams and much other testimony.)

4 - It stands to reason that men can experience erotic large muscle contractions in the absence of physical stimulation.

Where Maxbridge Lies in the Broader World of Erotica

Twelve Maxbridge Street is a record of a fantasy I had at a time when I hadn't read erotica for many decades. When I published it and was introduced to the wide world of eBooks I was struck by how different it was from what else was out there, but I couldn't articulate what constituted that difference. So I solicited feedback in Facebook, Reddit and various dedicated web sites. Many of the critiques could be boiled down to these: "The description is probably as fine as can be gotten through written word. Now I want to read the psychological parts." Another said, "When we think about pain and humiliation in BDSM, it is never mechanical. Each thing is associated with an emotion."

I tried to think of ways to add "emotion," but was stumped for many months, but I finally figured it out.

The kind of masochism that I'm describing is the kind which causes a person to experience only one emotion, surrender. The self is subsumed under that emotion, and the experience is only of it and pain and sexual arousal and release. There is no room for self reflection. No thoughts are present. No guilt, no resistance, no happiness, no smirking. So the reader brings their own experience to the narration.

What about humiliation? Isn't that an emotion? I think that what happens is the character is put in humiliating situations and goes immediately to surrender.

Very early on after publication, I received two helpful observations. One kind reviewer said they were "in the vein of classic French erotica" and compared it to The Story of O, bt Pauline Reage. Another, not so kind, said it was "old style."

I don't know why it took me so long, but I re-read The Story of O ten months after publishing Maxbridge. Indeed, there is almost no description of O's feelings beyond her desire to do anything her lover Rene wants her to do. Indeed, we don't even know what O feels sexually. Is she sexually aroused? Apparently she never has an orgasm, and yet this book is acknowledged as an important classic in erotica. The reader must bring their reactions to the narration of events.

The absence of descriptions of O's sexual feelings is very certainly not a quality shared with Maxbridge, which is very explicit about the main character's physical responses.

O is probably my favorite book of erotica, but I hadn't read it for almost fifty years, so I was intrigued to discover that Maxbridge must have been inspired by it in small ways as well as large. The cape, the discussion about whips, measuring his forearm, and the valet saying "Please be good enough to turn around," while whipping her, must have lived in my subconscious for many decades.

Now that all my questions about where Twelve Maxbridge Street belongs in the world of erotica have been answered, I'm publishing my discoveries here just because I want to share.

Thanks for your attention,

O was one of the first erotic novels I read and I must have read it half a dozen times. Certain scenes linger still in my memory, and I suspect the lack of orgasms is what helped it to sustain erotic tension.

I can’t remember whether this is connected to the author, but I remember reading an account by a French woman of a time she basically opened her legs and allowed a hundred men to use her. (Details are vague.) the startling thing was how indifferent she seemed in the description of it. There was no sense of transgression, no eroticism.

So much of eroticism is about the interplay of fear and pleasure. O, as far as I remember, captured this well, except towards the end when her submission was complete.

I love incest stories and as soon as I realised there was a place I could indulge these fantasies, I was like a pig in shit. Once I started writing my own stories, there was only ever going to be one topic I would explore. Incest all the way, baby.

Mine was roundabout. I came across the Broken Wrist story on reddit, and it hooked something inside. I ate that shit up, and in looking for more I came across Lit. Oh my god. Devoured the incest section for a year, going from A to Z. Found stuff I liked, but a lot of the time, the story would twist in some way I didn't like. "Why didn't they do x?" It was rare to find one that ticked all the boxes. I figured I could try it too and write stuff that did check my boxes.

Lately I've been wanting to write so Loving Wives stories, and that desire all stems from one writer: J267. He writes like a sexy train wreck that I can't look away from.

New member, plan on uploading first story soon (text written, but needs a final edit).

I'm in a niche that may be limited in demand, but there is some though very limited availability: bi-curious gay guys' experiences with women. Sadly, there's a lot of self-loathing (internalized homophobia) in that "scene"; thus, an emphasis on 180-degree heterosexual "conversion" that just isn't realistic.

Also interested in impreg (breeding), either as part of that ... adventure, or its own focus in a regular, straight story.

Good luck on your first story!!:giggle:

I think a lot of us find our niche by accident. We start writing about something we’re interested in, and then it just takes off. For me, it was historical romance. I never thought I’d write in that genre, but now it’s my favorite.

I suppose it started by reading Fantasy, Piers Anthony's, "Centaur Isle," which I read in my late teens. Fast forward forty years, and creative writing got me out of the hole of deep depression, I self-published. Now Melody wants to paint her hooves red like the racy mares, who am I to argue?

I like to pair older women with younger men. It used to be a popular idea that men peak sexually in their early twenties and women peak closer to forty. I thought it unfortunate that these two groups don't have a lot in common beyond that.

Writing erotica gave me the opportunity to imagine how they might come together and how they would get along. Do they hit it and quit it? Or do they fall in love and grow together?

Mother-son incest springs out of this idea. It's convenient because, as others have said, the characters already have a loving relationship. You just have to somehow get them in bed.

Wow!! Never knew that.

I don't know if it's true or not. But I find it a sexy idea, obviously.
Just a quick question. Why do you think men find older woman attractive or beautiful. I know it is a preference and stuff. Do you think them knowing there is difference of age something or it is just they are more mature in their behavior?

I'm not big on incest, but cougar videos can be 👍

Speaking for myself: not all "older" women are the same. I can be attracted to different women for different reasons. Just being confident can be very sexy, on a woman of any age. (I'm only attracted to women, but I expect for some people that would include men, nonbinary people, etc.)

All men aren't the same, either, so other men are different from me in many ways.

They can be more assured and confident in who they are, their own sexuality, whereas a young woman in her twenties is still figuring all that out. As for a girl of eighteen, she's still a teenager.

For me, it's maturity, when the mother is hotter than the daughter. Cougars though, not so much.

I was a shy teenager, but at 17 the fact of how my mother reacted to my younger sisters remark that me and an auntie had been holding hands convicted me I liked older women.

First of all, I love your profile photo - it seems we have something in common…😊

I have been obsessed with erotic thoughts and images for many years. Some as a result of real experiences, others as pure fantasy. I have created and maintain an internal catalogue of fantasies for when I need quick, satisfying release. Eventually I decided to write one down and publish it - “Dr. Erica Beaumar Surrenders”.

This picture 📸 attached here inspired me to get a SciFi plot in my fertile imagination of an Earth 👩 woman and her alien 👽 lover.....Screenshot_20241020-050451_Facebook.jpg

I’ve been into pee stuff, discipline, and femdom since I knew what sex was. There was no need to search for a genre thankfully.

In high school in my final year, I aimed to explore lots of genres and writing styles. It can be fun to write something different and out of your norm. Can also be hard!

Generally though, erotic or otherwise, I mostly write the stories that run around inside my head. So... whatever's going on up there is what I write.

I was fortunate in my 20's to have an older friend group. Once the older women realized I was amenable to women over 10 years older than me, well, that was fun. Of course, I was in my 20's, so now I look back with a few regrets. Once in my 40's I wished I had my 20something yo body back. Lol.

How did you get into Hotwife Genre?

I started writing incest stories because I enjoyed reading them AND I knew it was a well-read category and I was looking for as many readers as I could get. But I tried to write them with a romantic undercurrent, since I do consider myself to be a romantic in many ways.

I eventually added more romantic "regular" stories. My stories could easily be made into Hallmark movies. However, I can't stand watching Hallmark movies! I'm like that in other ways - I enjoy singing opera, but have no desire to go hear others sing it!

I also like stories with age gaps between the main characters. My first two involved older men and younger women, but the next one will be the opposite - once I get a couple others finally finished.
