How competitive are you?

Do you find yourself being more competitive at work with collegues?

At home with your family or your SO?

What really brings out the urge to squash your opponent?

Humor me, I'm bored, and can't sleep. Thanks.

Maybe you like being the "underdog"?

Thanks Lazarus.

When it comes to work I'm not that competitive..

Hockey?? Forgetaboutit... I've been told I am hell to play against because I am very very competitive.

Thanks Liontamr.

So you'd say it's a game-related competitiveness? You're really not that way in every aspect of life?

I am a very different person when I am on the ice.

Normally I'm laid back, I don't swear a whole lot, I'm not the type to grit my teeth in anger or raise my voice...

But playing hockey brings out an animal in me.. I yell and scream.. If I screw up a play or anything like that I'll swear loudly.. I'll dive and jump to get at loose pucks..

Its not as if I am even like that in other games.. just hockey.

I'm competative at work. That's paid off for me.

I was *enormously* competative in school.

I'm competative at games. I like to win. Why bother playing if you're not playing to win? They are supposed to be fun, however, so I like to think I temper my competative streak with good humor.

Except playing pool. I'm a horrible pool player, but I love the game, so I play for keeps there! LOL

I'm not competative with other women for male attention. I make a conscious effort not to be, as I think it's highly unattractive. Besides, in that regard I either stand on my own or I don't. Anyone who wouldn't recognize why to choose me over someone else isn't worthy of my time anyway.

I'm competative with my siblings on a variety of matters. Pretty much just standard sibling rivalry. They're non-competative, so it's pretty funny and is a family in-joke. Well, my oldest brother and I get competative about cooking, but we have totally different styles, so we usually don't step all over one another.

I can be VERY competitive at times. I think it's in my blood. It's also like a switch that I can turn on and off. It all depends on who I am with.

People who think they're the shit. I just want to prove to them they're not.

And I compete. And I win.

I actually don't mind losing.. As long as I know I gave everything I had to give.

Except hockey.. I just hate losing in hockey lol

Sounds like it's your tension release. *grin*

Thanks.

Sound like it works for you!!

It *is* a tremendous game, isn't it! One of my favorites.

And that makes you more attractive to them, I'd be willing to bet.

I don't know any siblings that aren't competitive with eachother. Thanks Nora!

Yeah well something has to be since I'm not getting any!

Maybe if I did get laid or something it would take away my competitive edge..

Now if I can only find a woman to help me test that theory out!

That's interesting, Romial. I always thought it was a trait you wre born with - you either were, or you weren't. Hmm.

Thanks!

That attitude *is* annoying. Thanks.

You're welcome, Cleo. It was a really interesting question for me, cuz I had to think of all the different ways in which I'm competative! LOL

So, wanna play pool?

OH GOD YEAH!

Sorry - a bit bored here tonight and I love the game. Math, physics, luck, and concentration all wrapped up into one.

I'm in heaven....

Well by traits I am. But I've learned to control it. Other wise as people tell me, you're no fun to play with. If I'm on a team, I get competitive. If I'm by myself against a friend seeing who is best at something, I'm competitive. But if I'm with my family and casually doing something, nah I don't care that much, it's still fun for me. Or if I'm with a SO I don't usually get too competitive in too many things. Ya know what I mean?

C'mon...lose your wild competitive streak just for a test drive? I guess it would depend on your subject too. *grin*

I do. I think it's bad to be competitive if you're SO is that way too. You end up fighting with eachother, and it's no fun. The best thing to do is play against someone you like, but still respect enough to not be an ass about it.

Why is that, that we lose the respect for the people closest to us, when we'd give it willingly to a complete stranger?

Just a thought.
