Laurel, I just checked my e-mail and it was filled with notifications of people posting to "my" threads. The threads in question are, 'jokes' by Nexxus and 'why do people say so many goodbyes' by Siren.

Do I assume there is a hiccup in the system and ignore it?

Hi Freya,

For some reason, your "Email Notification" must be set to "On". To fix this, go to your profile (hit the "Profile" tag at the top right of the screen), put in your name and password, then scroll down to the bottom of your profile. There, you will see an option that reads "Use 'Email Notification' by default". Change this to "No" then hit "Submit Modifications". Viola! That should fix it. If it doesn't, let me know!

In the upper right area of this page, there is an icon for editing your profile.

At the very bottom of the list of things you can set in your profile, there is a yes/no check box for "Emial notification when there is a post in a thread you have participated in" (or something close to that wording.)

Change that check box to no.

If you want notification of posts to a thread you start, there is a check box at the bottom of the posting form that will send you messages for that thread only.

If it's set in the user profile, it's any thread you participate in. If you check it for a specific post, you get notifications for that thread only.

If you want notifications for only a threads you start, then you have to turn it off in the profile, and check only for the post starting the thread.

If you check for every post you make in a thread, I'm not sure that the script is smart enough to send only one notice per thread.
