Housewarming (closed)

OOC: I'm looking for just one female character for this story. I generally like to keep things simple. First one to post gets in and then the thread is closed to others.

Name: Bram Jones
Age: 23
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 175 lbs.
Hair/Eye: Black/Brown
Description: Bram is a young college grad with a slim, athletic build and dark wavy hair down to his elbows. He also grows a soul patch under his lip and has his ear pierced. He sports three tattoos. The first of a Chinese dragon on his upper left arm. The second is a wolf's head on his upper right arm. The last is a yin-yang on his left shoulder.

IC:

Bram wiped the sweat from his brow and released his hair from its ponytail. The last of his furniture had been brought in, though there was still a lot of unpacking to do. Not that he was complaining. For the time being, it was enough. And it was nice just to have the new home. It was a peaceful suburb just outside the city, making it easy to get to all the clubs, bars, and any other place he chose to go.

The house itself had two main floors, an attic, a basement, and an in-ground swimming pool in back. His uncle had bequeathed him the house after deciding to move to Japan, and Bram had all too happily accepted the offer. For one thing, he was fresh out of college and needed a good home to stay in while he worked off both bills and his loan. For another, he needed to get out of his old neighborhood anyway. Living two blocks away from the girl who had just dumped you a couple weeks before graduation made for a lot of awkward situations.

Bram looked out the French doors to the backyard to the swimming pool. His uncle's friends who had helped him move had taken good care of the place in the few days it was uninhabited. And right now those sparkling waters looked really inviting. Maybe a couple of the neighbors would be interested in a housewarming party this weekend. Throw in a keg and a barbecue, they'd propably all show up.

In the meantime, Bram wanted to get his instruments set up. He was a professional musician, but without a band. He could play any instrument he picked up and had an adundance of them packed up at the moment. His first project after settling in was to turn the basement into a studio and rehearsal space.

With that in mind, he went into the basement, intent on getting as many instruments set up as possible before dinner.

Name: Kassandra James
Age: 20
height: 5'7"
weight:160
hair/eye: chesnut/ hazel
Description: Immediately after high school Kass started working for her father's law firm. Ever since she has been doing secretarial work for him and has lived in a small house that he owns, while he is off with clients in different states or countries. Has a tribal rose tattoo on her lower back.
Ic:

Music swayed Kass' movements as she walked around the house. The windows of her small house were thrown open and the music wafted out into the open air on the street, taking up her duster she moved around to the beat of the music. Seeing a moving trusk across the street she leaned out the window getting a better view.

~MAybe I'll bake something...~ she mused to herself as she turned her back on the window and swayed her hips, her head bobbing to the music. Truth be told she got lonely, all of her friends had went away to college and very recently fogotten about her. Maybe she could find a new friend, at least she hoped so.

As dusk settled in, Bram had gotten all of his instruments unpacked and had decided to get some dinner. Since he was still setting the kitchen up, he opted to just order a pizza. His uncle's friends had left him a cooler with a few beers in it, as well. A nice frosty Sam Adams sounded really good right about then.

Bram ordered a mushroom thin crust on his cell phone and sat out on the porch on the wicker loveseat to wait as he watched the sunset. The orange and pink hues of the waning daylight gave his hair a coppery sheen and shaded his features in a way that made him look almost ethereal, like some ghost from a bygone romantic era.

Kass had finished her little dancing/ cleaning spasm. With a smile she searched through her cabinet and found a nice bottle of wine. Making sure she looked presentable, she opened the door and stepped out, a little bow tied securely around the wine. Smiling as she looked across the street, her breath caught in her throat, her new neighboor was..gorgeous. Swallowing hard she continued her slow pace across to his front step.

"Hi!" she said in a friendly tone, as she held the wine out to him, " My name's Kassandra, I live just across the street, I wanted to welcome you to the neighboorhood." she smiled warmly.

Bram saw the women from across the street approach. She was so beautiful. Definately one of the ten hottest women he'd ever seen. Before she had even reached his yard, he cought himself wondering if she was single.

"Hi!" she said in a friendly tone, as she held the wine out to him, " My name's Kassandra, I live just across the street, I wanted to welcome you to the neighboorhood." she smiled warmly.

"Thank you," he replied. His voice was a rich baritone. Years of practice in music and travelling along with his natural gifts had given his voice a peculiar... accent wasn't the right word. The best way to describe it was melodic. Even in plain speech, he sounded like he was singing.

Bram reached forward and took the bottle from her, letting one hand rest on hers. He made no attempt to pull it back. In fact, he let it linger there longer than necessary before slowly pulling the bottle into his lap. He was fortunate enough to naturally be good with people, women in particular. He never felt nervous or insecure around people, mostly because he had grown up not caring about other's opinions of him.

He gestured to the seat beside him with a soft smile. "Would you like to sit down? My name is Bram, by the way. Bram Jones."

Kass smiled and breathed a sigh of relief as he accepted her gesture of friendship. With a simple smile she stood as his hand rested on hers as she stood there, a small blush creeping into her cheeks as she fought the urge to pull away.

Brushing some hair out of her face after he let go of her hand he gestured for her to sit next to him. "Nice to meet you Bram, what brings you to these parts?" she asked turing to him, hoping if she spoke he wouldn't be able to notice the little flush in her cheeks, this man was by far the handsomest she had ever laid eyes on, in school she had never had a chance to even sit next to someone so fine as himself.

Even in the fading light of the evening, Bram saw the faint blush in her face. He contained the urge for his smile to widen, not wanting to put her on the spot for it. Yet.

"My uncle left me this house," Bram answered. "He's moved to Japan for a job with Mythic Studios, the game company." He never broke eye contact. The gentle shimmer of evening light in her hazel eyes was hypnotic.

"If you'd like, I just ordered a pizza and you're welcome to come in and join me." He then smiled and gently place a hand on her shoulder nearest him. "It's nothing fancy, I know. But it would be a shame for you to leave so early after we just met. Seeing your smile has been the highlight of my day."

Kass smiled, a small laugh tinkeling in the air above them, "I would love to eat dinner with you, but please, I'm sure moving heavy things was much more exciting then me smiling," she joked with him, her sarcasm getting the best of her even in this somewhat nervous situation she was in at the moment.

"One condition, we have dessert and that wine," she said pointing to the bottle she had handed him, "At my humble abode..." she insisted now warming to his touch on her shoulder.

Her laughter was infectious, and Bram felt a warm chuckle rolling out of his chest. "Alright, then. But don't count yourself short on that smile. All lifting boxes does is substitute a day at the gym and make me feel like a tough guy." He then started flexing and posing like a body builder, complete with goofy facial expressions.

"oh yes," Kass smiled and clapped appreciatively as he showed off for her. "Don't try too hard you might give yourself an anyerism," she joked, now giggling more than laughing at him. " Oh yes, so sexy," she said in a joking tone but she knew she was being serious.

"hey, do you want to walk over with me real quick, I want to put the wine in the fridge, so it'll be chilled when we're ready to drink it, or you can wait for your pizza and I'll go over by myself, either way...." she stopped herself sbruptly from rambeling, "Sorry," she said in a sweet tone.

Bram chuckled lightly. "Do you always take strangers over to your house this quickly?" he asked jokingly. He then stood up and offered his hand. "I'd love to."

As they walked to Kass' house, Bram kept stealing a few glances at her from the corner of his eye. "So how long have you lived here?"

Kass blushed profusely now, "Do you always take strangers over to your house this quickly?" "Only if they have candy," she said smiling as they walked across, "I've lived here for the last two or so years, I went to school a few towns away from here, and now here I am."

She opened the door to let Bram into her small house. It was just big enough for two people. Walking over to the kitchen she slid the wine into her fridge. "Want a grand tour?" she asked stepping in front of Bram.

"I'm from out of town, so maybe you could show me around tomorrow," Bram suggested off-handedly.

"Want a grand tour?"

Bram smiled and gave a sweeping gesture with one hand. "Lead the way, milady," he said in a hammy, but sincere theatrical voice. If not for the T-shirt, jeans, tattoos, and soul patch, one would think he was an old world gentleman.

"I would'nt mind that," she said as he suggested she show him around tomarrow. "Well this is my house, Kitchen," she pointed to where she had just come from, "Living room," she pointed the opposite side. She walked slowly down the hall, "This is the study, and my bedroom," she said as she opened the door onto surely the largest room in the house.

In the middle of the room sat a large wooden four poster bed. It was neatly made with crimson and black sheets and comforter. She smiled, "Best seat in the house," she joked as she sat down and them stood. " What do you think?" she asked a smile on her face, the dieing sunlight shining in the window behind her.

Bram surveyed the bedroom a moment. "Very nice. You have excellent taste in decor. Perhaps you could help me out. I don't have much in my house right now and the decorations I brought from college are mostly from Spencer's Gifts."

He glanced out the window to see a car with a pizza sign on top. "Here comes our dinner." He looked over at Kass, smiling gently again. "Come on. After dinner, perhaps you'd like a quick look at my house before we have dessert."

Kass nodded before slipping off the bed, before following Bram out of the room and finally out of the house, where they promptly met up with the pizza guy. And to think Kass was going to turn in early tonight, and sleep most of the day and night away.

"I would be happy to help you," she smiled as she watched him get the pizza, "Spencers isnt too bad, just tell me you don't have the fuzzy Sex Dice hanging somewhere in your house..." she joked.

Bram walked back into the house with the pizza. His family gave him their old kitchen table and chairs, so seating wasn't a problem. He opened up the cooler and pulled out two beers as Kass took a seat.

"Spencers isnt too bad, just tell me you don't have the fuzzy Sex Dice hanging somewhere in your house..." she joked.

An impish grin spread over Bram's face and he wiggled his eyebrows suggestively at her in jest.

Kass shook her head, a laugh escaping her lips as she opened her beer and took a long swig, immediately feeling more relaxed. "MAybe we can play with them later..." she suggested returning his impish grin. She rose an eyebrow as she took a peice of pizza and bit into it.

Chewing slowly she crossed her legs under the table. "It's not too bad in here, could use some color maybe," she said trying to change the subject.

"MAybe we can play with them later..."

Bram gave her a wink and a sexy smile at that. He took a slice of pizza for himself and a swig of beer.

"It's not too bad in here, could use some color maybe," she said trying to change the subject.

"You wouldn't happen to be an interior decorator, would you?" he asked. "You have a great sense of style." As if to emphasize the point, he swept his eyes up and down her outfit a couple times.

"No afraid not, I work in a horrible gray office building. I love to decorate though, and thank you for the compliment, I know what colors go good together," she smiled as she took another bite of her pizza, as well as another sip of her beer.

"I'm sure if we worked together we could figure something out," she put down the peice of pizza, and with a long swig, finished her beer, "That is if you want. What about you? What do you do to put pizza and beer on the table?" she asked her elbow resting on the table, her chin in her hand.

Bram smiled modestly. "I'm a musician. I started singing when I was six, and it all just snowballed from there.

"I'm actually hoping to turn the basement into a studio. I've spent most of the day just setting up my instruments."

Smiling Kass couldn't help but let her mind wander, a sexy musician next door. "You'll have to play for me one day..." she in almost a pleading manner, "In exchange for my services that is," when she said that she immediately blushed, she had just made herself seem like a prostitute.

"Helping you decorate,I mean " she said correcting herself with some embarssment. "So are you ready to give me that tour? Show off your fuzzy dice and whatnot..." she smirked, hiding her embarassment.

Bram grinned at her and leaned forward slightly, pointing to her face. "You have the most adorable blush, you know that?" It's the simple pleasure in life you treasure. Teasing a beautiful woman with a good sene of humor was one of them.

"So are you ready to give me that tour? Show off your fuzzy dice and whatnot..." she smirked, hiding her embarassment.

"Sure. If you're really good, I'll even play you something on my guitar."

The tour started with the living room and study on the first floor. Then came the two (as of yet) empty bedroom on the second floor. The attic was well-maintained, a perfect artist's retreat. The pool and patio out in back came next. And the tour finished in the basement which at the moment contained at least ten different instruments.

His comment on her blush made her face turn an even darker red, smirking she threw her hands up in defeat. Following him around the house Kass was amazed as she saw how big the house actually was. Comparing it to hers would be like comparing a cottage to a castle.

Her eyes went wide as they entered the basement, "Would you please play something for me?" she begged as she looked at all the different instuments.

Bram smiled and nodded. He took up an acoustic-electric guitar and plugged it into the amp before setting up a microphone. He tuned the strings by ear and fingerpicked a few scales and chords to warm up. He tested his voice and and did a couple quick face warm-ups before playing Silent Lucidity by Queensryche.

Hush now, don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over... or has it just begun?

There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize it and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
Commanding in another world
Suddenly you hear and see
This magic new dimension

I- will be watching over you
I- am gonna help you see it through
I- will protect you in the night
I- am smiling next to you, in Silent Lucidity

Visualize your dream
Record it in the present tense
Put it into a permanent form
If you persist in your efforts
You can achieve dream control
Dream control
How's that then, better?
Hug me

If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you built within
Come tumbling down, and a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're safe from the pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of illusion, can you realize
Your dream's alive, you can be the guide but...

I- will be watching over you
I- am gonna help to see it through
I- will protect you in the night
I- am smiling next to you....

"That's always been one of my favorites. What do you think?"
