It's a love hate thing for me. I hate the thought of getting started, but once I do, it all seems to flow out of me. I get obsessive about cleaning everything, every corner and window, kitchen cabinet doors, under the beds, everything.

I can't just do it half way. It takes me about 4 hours straight, with no interruptions, but when it's done I am really happy I did it.

The other days of the week I'm just trying to fight the clutter and have a few clean dishes.

Am I the only one who does this? My mom always seemed to have a shiny clean house every day - except for my bedroom, she didn't go in there. I can only manage to get it that way every week or so.

That sounds like me too. I think I may be a touch obsessive compulsive. The big variable in this equation is whether I can get into it without interruption. Seems like there are always interruptions.

I like to do it very early in the morning before the kids wake up or the phone starts ringing, plus I'm more motivated if I don't wait too long to get started.

Obsessive complulsive, you think so? Could be.

We hired someone who does the thorough cleaning once a week. So i only have to do the dishes and clear away the mess behind my back.

I hope not, but one never knows.

Oh yeah, those were the days. I used to have a nice cleaning lady who came every couple of weeks. I can't afford that anymore right now.

I get a lot of satisfaction out of doing it myself anyway. I can be sure everything's clean the way I want it. Or maybe I'm just high off the smell of Pine Sol.

You have a couple good points there Soblue. I also like the satisfaction of having done it myself, and knowing it was done the way I like and that things are where I want them. I hate it when someone else puts things away, and then I can't find them. Hmmm, now I'm thinking that I may not only be obsessive compulsive, but a control freak, too?????

Heheh

I don't think it's bad to want things the way you want them in your own home. As long as you don't bitch too much when people try to help.

If my boyfriend wants to vacuum, I refrain from telling him he's doing a shitty job, for instance - "move that chair, don't just vac around it". I just bite my lip and smile.

So the big question is...do you do housework in the nude?

knowing that everything is where I want it to be and it's cleaned the way I want it to be cleaned. I've never had a house cleaning service, and probably never will.

OH Ram - I clean my bedroom and bathroom nude sometimes, but not the rest of the house!

*moan*
I would love to see that...

Uh huh, sometimes I clean nude, or with not much on. It depends who's home at the time.

*sigh*

you wouldn't get much done if I was "helping"...

I hate housework...I dream of the day when I can hire a maid service. I also prefer to drop off my laundry. I only have so many hours in a day to get everything done...I'd rather not clutter them up with things like housework when I could be working on homework, book, or dissertation...out with friends or at a broadway show. All are infinitely preferable to cleaning.

You are lucky. I can't even manage one hour of cleaning without an interruption.
