House cats - killers?

Thought I'd share some of the latest snorkel joy for those who are snorkel-deprived. I know it's not as good as the real thing but if you sing "Under the Sea" while you look, that helps.

Chippy the turtle...

My wild friends, (who say, "Please don't put us in a tank!")...

Ohhh. So awesome! I want to go snorkeling soooo badly, but I haven't been in forever. Hopefully, when I go to the beach in a couple of weeks, I'll be able to, but I know I won't get to see anything that cool there. :(

I can see Chippy feeling that way. I don't have much faith in the cognitive abilities of basic fish though.

I once saw a traveling show what had an enormous, and entirely freaky looking Alligator Turtle. Initially, I was really put off by the size of the tank compared to the size of the monster turtle. Then I asked some questions, and found out his history, and how they keep him when he is not actively on display. I didn't feel quite so bad, as he was essentially a rescue, and some guy 85 years ago decided that he should not be food when the rest of his species was being decimated in his home turf.

Anything that hangs out in numbers like that wants to hang out in numbers like that.

You know those little deranged birds that look like giant swarms of bees turning on a dime?

I think we should let them have massive parties like they like to do.

*shrug* I don't disagree. But while I will argue for the emotions and cognitive abilities of dogs and cats, I've not seen evidence of same from fish.

And most of your big aquariums tend to put those sorts of fish in bigger tanks with lots of them together. It makes for a better display after all :p
