Hot wax....

Ok, if this is a repetitive thread, I apologize..I did a search but came up with nothing. I want to know if any of you are into having hot candle wax dripped onto you during sex...do you like it? Do you like to be the one who does the pouring or the recipient? Do you like it on your nipples, belly, where? I'm planning a little "vacation" with someone in a few weeks, and this is something we plan to do...just want to get some ideas to make the most out of the trip...Thanks!

Very much, but I find that this works better with women than men (because men have more hair).

I would advise that, when you start, pour it on your more resilient areas (the top of your arm vs. the tender underside). Personally I love it and wish we could just drip wax from our fingertips at will; I'd save a fortune in candles.

It makes me hot over my chest and stomach, over my legs, around the upper thigh. Don't burn your sex. Hurts like hell. But I think the back is hottest, because it's an area that doesn't often get a lot of stimulation. I love the way it feels dripping up or down my spine.

Something to note, though, I'm very, very pale. My skin turns brilliant red under the wax. It fades, and it's no worse in color than a good walloping spanking, but it's still there.

I've found that men have a lower constitution for this sort of thing than women do; maybe it's because of all the things we do to our bodies. I'd let him feel it somewhere, like the palm of his hand, and raise the candle up a little higher so the wax has a chance to cool before hitting his skin. Pour it anywhere you would normally bite him. :) That's probably a good guide.

Thanks! I have a very fair complexion as well, so what are the chances of my skin blistering? I can take red marks (and I plan to have plenty of handprints on my ass!), but I worry a bit about having my skin blister...Does this ever happen to you?

actually I love hot wax but I'm a hairy guy so it can be painful but I play "fire and ice" the hot then cold sensation or vice versa makes it so much better.

I never tried it, but would love to. I remember a thread awhile back about this. There was something there about the type of wax used. I don't remember what kind it was but they said it was less painful and safer to use.

I believe some waxes melt at lower temperatures and those are better to use for obvious reasons but I'm not 100% positive

Don't be a wuss. Dive into the deep end or stay in the kiddy pool. :)

I'd be more concerned with the post-cooling waxing process if I were you.

I LOVE hot wax! I'd rather be on the receiving end, though. I prefer breasts/nipples, belly, and my ass. Once I'm worked up enough, and have a partner with a steady hand, I like to have wax dripped around my clit. (Directly ON the clit can be very painful, though!

As to the type of wax? Yes, it makes a big difference. You do not want candles that have coloration and/or scents. They burn at a higher temperature. Also, stay away from beeswax. Same reason. You need to find parrafin wax - it burns at a much lower temp. You still the sensations, but not the "ouchiness". How do you find parrafin candles? Well, the easiest way - go to your grocery store to the international foods aisle. In there somewhere should be where all the kosher foods are. Among them you will find boxes of candles that Jews use on the Sabbath. These are parrafin. They only come in white, however. Or, you can check some of the adult toy stores (I've found them online) that sell candles specifically made for hot waxing. These are great because they come in different colors and styles. You can have them around your home and use them for play!

Good luck and have fun!

Chele, you are wondrous. I've always done the ghetto thing and used normal candles.

I'm going out to the store right now!

Type of wax to use

Thanks for that info...I had no idea that the type of wax would make a difference. I can't wait to run to the store and get some of those candles. Now, just purely out of curiosity, because I plan to try it all, when do YOU use the hot wax? As foreplay, during? or right at the point of orgasm?

I woluld say foreplay personally I mean fucking with an open flam can cause house fires if the sex is good.

Here's a copy of a post from almost 2 years ago about the melting point of different types of candles. There was also a recent discussion about using Passover candles, they melt at very low temperatures, as well.

Since i've gone looking for that exact info a time or two since it was posted, i knew sorta where to look. The wax/candle discussion begins on page 12 but the main body of the discussion is on page 14.

Here's the table i posted there back then:

http://www.bdsm-peergroup.com/Resou...t_Wax_Play.html

Melting Points

First, lets talk a little about the types of wax and the temperatures at which they become liquid (melt). The following table describes different types of waxes, based on their additive content, in what form they might likely be found and their initial melting points:

Wax type..........Where Found..........Melt Points

Raw parafin................Canning wax, bulk..............115° - 126°F
(soft)

Votive candles............Cylinders up to 6 in............131° - 141°F
(harder)

Taper candles..............Candlesticks....................141°F +
(hard)..........................Table candles

Hurricane lamp.................................................154°F +
(hard)

Beeswax....................Numerous candle
(waxy to hard)...........styles, bulk........................146°F +

Note: Seems obvious, but one should hold that burning candle up WAY high before allowing it to drip. That allows the 141°F + table candle wax drops to cool down just a teensey bit before they hit our skin.

Good pain is good.
Bad pain is bad.

In my book, 141°F = bad pain.

Here are a couple of threads that may have some more info to help you.

First to mention that AttentionWhore and MorningGirl gave some great links. The link to the candle web page was the one I was thinking of. He's got a great selection of candles in all sizes and shapes and some great colors as well!

For me, I use hot wax as a foreplay. Normally, I like a lot of kissing, fondling, caressing - anything to get the juices flowing. I have to be very aroused to enjoy hot wax. If I'm not in the right mood, it's just ouchie and irritating. But when I'm aroused, I can't get enough!

I prefer to be restrained in some way, but I'd much rather not be blindfolded. I like to watch as my partner brings the candle low over my body, teasing me, allowing me to watch as the drop of liquid wax gathers at the tip, only to have him tip it upright. I love the anticipation of finally watching that drop (or dribble) of wax leave the tip of the candle and watch as it splashes onto my skin. With a skilled lover (sometimes takes some time!), s/he can pinpoint each drop of wax exactly.

As the wax cools, it can sometimes stretch the skin, which I personally find uncomfortable. Especially during movement. So, again for me, I like to watch as my partner slowly pulls off the wax from my body. This is why I prefer large patches of wax - especially over my nipples. When the wax is removed in one piece, it's a perfect mold of my breast and nipple. Somehow, I find that highly erotic.

Oh, and just a small word of advice: be careful of what you are lying on when doing hot wax. It can splash and getting cooled wax out of expensive carpet can be a major bitch. If possible to have have some sort of plastic sheeting, that would be best. (There are some online stores that have these types of sheets. If not, it's best to use old towels.

And one more thing. The higher the wax is dripped from (candle farther away from the body), the less heat when it touches the skin. Wax cools in motion. The closer the candle to the body, the greater the heat. However, if you stick with paraffin, you shouldn't have too much difficulty. But do a patch test FIRST!! Try a small drop on the inside of your forearm or shoulder so you know what heat tolerance you might have. Build up to sensitive areas. Try the wax on shoulders, belly, or back first. Also, if your partner is not experienced, have him/her try the wax on themselves so they know what you will be feeling. It may or may not "do" anything for them, but it gives them a sense as to what you are feeling.

Lastly, play around and have fun. Try having your partner build you to orgasm, then try dripping wax during orgasm and see what happens. If it works for you, great! If not, you never have to do it again.

Dang! I am SO envious of you!! Have a great time!

*Warning, another of my long winded rambles*

Chele is right about the distance from candle to skin, but I didn't notice anyone mentioning the SIZE of the candle
Larger width (rounder) candles are better, as the melted wax pools further away from the wick, keeping the temperature lower
narrower candles (especially tapers, ouch) have the wax coming directly off the flame, making it much hotter than the base melting point for that type of wax
A better choice than the Sabbta votives that were mentiones is the tall glass-enclosed candles many US grocery stores have in the "ethnic foods" sections, often called 7 Day Candles
They're generally made of low temp parafin, are easily reusable, and create a LOT of wax away from the flame.....in fact, once the wax is built up you can blow the flame out & pour it, or drip it from your fingers, as Chele mentioned :D

HOWEVER...........if you're SERIOUS about waxing, candles are for amateurs!
Go to a swap meet or garage sale & buy a used, but working crockpot. Hit a craft store or a grocery store (where they have the stuff for canning) and buy a couple of pounds of bulk parafin (it's not expensive).
Pick up a candy termometer as well.

Add wax to crock pot, heat till melted. Best to do this with the heat on Low. It'll take longer to melt but the stuff takes FOREVER to cool if you do it on High & you don't want to vaporize any of it. Use the thermometer to track the temperature. Try & keep it under 130. Then.......oh, then the fun begins!!!!!!!
Get a ladel and cover large portions of your lover's body.......dip your fingers in & trail wax along his/her skin.......alternate the cooler crockpot wax with hotter wax from a candle.........put a chip of ice on his/her nipple & ladle wax over it (much easier to be precise this way)
Like the idea of cutting, but afraid to do it? Wax a large area of your lover's back or stomack and take a DULL knife (unless you are competent & praxticed with sharp ones heh heh heh ) and trace patterns in the wax. Mebbe cut out a nipple hole in the previously waxed breast ;)

Fire & Ice has been mentioned......ot only is ice always fun, but if you get some that's a little too hot, a fast application of ice can relieve pain & help keep burns from being more than a little red spot
Here again, if you can get it, you can go pro.....find a bottle or 3 of Ethyl Chloride. It's only available by prescription in the US (why I don't know) but is pretty easy to get. It's a liquid topical applicator used by Dr's to numb injection sites by creating a burst of cold on the skin. Massage therapists doing trigger point or other forms of intense massage also use it, and most Dr's will prescribe it for that. It's not a drug of any kind, just a chemical that produces cold. It works like a concetrated spray of ice, disolves instantly on contact with skin, and leaves no mess. It's AMAZING to mix with wax. (if you're using open flame candles, keep it FAR away, it is HIGHLY flammable!). If you use it with the crock-pot method, it has fun effects. For instance, it will "cut" thru a sheet of freshly applied wax as it is cooling by making the wax harden and seperate. So you could wax someone's whole back with a ladle & the crockpot, then instantly spray a "highway" down his or her spine. Said spot could then be given all sorts of sensations, or filled in with hotter wax from a candle.

I could go on & on here, but I need to get to work. If anyone's interested I might blather more later. ;)

i totally agree, being a fairly fuzzy man myself, but its fun to play with none the less, i like using a little ice first then the wax, little contrast in feelings, just be careful to drip it slowly and not to just "plop" out a big drop of it at once

Hello,

The other really easy place to find pariffin is craft stores, like a Garden Ridge or Hobbly Lobby. There you can get the wax, coloring agents, molds and wicks. Then you can make you own, also it gives you otehr fun ideas youcan try too, like using just a small bowl of mollten wax, I have been on both sides of playing with that, use a good thick bowl to hold the heat well and dip your fingers into it and slowly spread the molten wax on your partner, lots and lots of fun, gives you that dripping from your fingertips feel of pleasure. Also another fun way I didn't see mentioned above is to play with candles while in the water, having your skin wet and just beow the surface is a very interesting feeling when the wax drops and impacts. Well that is all I have to add other than one other thought, for guys who are 'fuzzy' a light coating of baby oil helps you remove the wax if you put in on before you play.

Have fun

Patrick

Since my partner and I were too chicken to try the hot wax, we decided to experiement with the next best thing. Hot chocolate. Keep it hot in a fondue pot. Be careful cuz it can get very hot. You've got to pay attention. But that was very fun! Hot chocolate - then cold whipped cream. Tastely clean up too!

Thank you all for all the tips and help. I can hardly wait for my weekend to get here! We are going to have sooooooo much fun! I love crazybbwgirl's idea of chocolate and whipped cream..Mmmmmmmm
Thanks again! You guys ROCK!!!!!
