So ideas like this have been done before plenty of times but I wanted to put a bit of a spin on things by putting a bit of a thriller/horror vibe.
Idea is simple enough. Really clean cut mom, goes to church like crazy, is overbearing with her cheerfulness etc, finds out her 18 year old son has a girlfriend and is having sex with her. She flips out, not wanting to think of her son having become a man.
She then confronts the girlfriend, a gorgeous classmate of his. The girlfriend looks like trouble but is very cordial. Though when mom asks her to stop seeing her son, girlfriend refuses: “he’s an adult now, he can decide.”
This ticks mom off and she demands her son stop seeing his girlfriend. Her normally neebish husband actually sticks up for his son and says his wife needs to back off. Son meanwhile tries to be respectful but says he loves his girlfriend and won’t stop seeing her.
So here’s where I thought of a few ways for the story to go, with some of them being combinable.
1. Mom puts her smile back on and claims she’s just worried about his grades. It’s his last year of high school and while his college is picked out and he was accepted, there’s a lot of scholarships on the line. So she gets son to agree that if his grades drop, he will have to dump his girlfriend. Only thing is, son’s grades are fine, if not even better than before. And girlfriend keeps coming over, keeps kissing him, keeps rolling him over and straddling him…which mom watches as she set up a camera in her son’s room. Mom then sabotages son’s project in a desperate attempt to yank his grades…only to have the teacher call her up. Son not only made another copy, he his girlfriend found the camera and gave the footage of the sabotage to the teacher and his father.
Father asks mom to leave (and since she has pornographic imagery of her son and his girlfriend, charges will be coming) and as she’s driving away, she sees son’s girlfriend pull into the driveway, a sneer on her face.
2. Girlfriend starts going to their church and antagonizing mom while winning over the congregation. For example, slipping in innuendo at functions about her sex life with son, beating mom at fundraising goals, sending sexts to son before service…and of course when mom confronts her, it’s in a way that makes her look like she’s the aggressor.
Girlfriend then comes over “to patch things up” and gets mom alone. She says that she understands mom’s concerns and that girlfriend has failed to live as the Bible dictates. So from now on, she’s going off the pill and son will stop wearing a condom. She even imagines what her belly will look like once she’s pregnant. Mom then slaps her, right as the pastor, her son, and her husband come in.
Everyone is shocked and girlfriend runs out with son chasing after her. Husband doesn’t even want to talk to her and son is spending the night at girlfriend’s place. Mom tries to call and she hears girlfriend begging him to put a baby in her, but as soon as she puts it on speaker so her husband can hear, there’s no sound on the other end. When they call a second later, son picks up right away: girlfriend is really upset and they were just watching a movie. Since he’s still ticked at his mom he’s planning on spending the weekend which husband readily agrees to.
She then gets an unknown caller: it’s the girlfriend. She’s willing to leave son if mom is willing to do something. Mom sneaks out in the middle of the night and goes to a motel.
The offer is simple: compete with her to see who can please son more. Son seems nervous but interested. Girlfriend meanwhile makes fun of mom’s vanilla attempts at seduction and keeps egging her on until mom is acting like a complete whore. Mom and son are then so into it that they don’t realize girlfriend has left. Nor do they realize when the sirens pull up and the cops arrest them for incest.
Girlfriend then tearfully recounts how her boyfriend had admitted to her that mom had come on to him and was attempting to seduce him. She confronted mom and mom assaulted her. She tried to get him to stay with her that night but he was too drawn in by his mother to resist. So she followed them and called the police. The room was paid for with mom’s credit card and the only other witness only saw mom and son enter. As the cops take mom and son away, they see girlfriend drying her tears on dad’s while hiding a wicked smile.

Mom blackmails one of son’s previous crushes (in this case I think she finds proof that she’s bi and threatens to tell her parents) and demands she seduce her son to get him away from his girlfriend. She attempts it but she’s just no good at it so mom forces her to wear revealing clothes and gives her a script for seducing her son.
However, while son does pick her up, he takes her to girlfriend who over a night of gentle sapphic sex gets her to tell he all about mom’s plans. Which they expose without revealing anything about the girl’s orientation. They then start a little polyamorous group of their own.
5. Munchausen by proxy: mom has been keeping her son frail his whole life. He does need a wheelchair but otherwise he’d be fine though she’s been adding medication and doing what she can to keep him dependent. Girlfriend ruins this. For one thing, he now knows despite his mom’s emotional abuse, someone else can love him. He’s eating girlfriend’s meals so his body is getting stronger, he even has the strength to stand up to her and advocate for himself now…and that just won’t do.
So mom comes up with a plan: she’ll invite girlfriend over and make a meal that will make girlfriend go into shock and make son sick again and he his time: nonverbal. She’ll then dispose of the girlfriend by faking an overdose and dumping the body and her son will depend on her once again…and it works…or at least it would have if girlfriend’s body wouldn’t have gone missing after dinner. Did she get her meal wrong…or is there something about girlfriend she doesn’t know?
I figure with the exception of 4, there’s at least the suggestion that girlfriend is supernatural in some way, possibly a spirit or demon of some kind meant to test or punish the mother.
With 2 Iwas inspired by Tomie. Essentially she can’t stand that mom doesn’t like her and decides to ruin her whole family for fun. I also considered having an ending where mom murders her and then she comes back from it as multiple girlfriends…but that was too on the nose.
