home from work tonite a little after 9pm I got word that
there was a hostage situation going on at Ffld U and
as of right now, all the hostages are freed and the
suspect in custody.

Thanks...no kidding.....but still, one in my town would
never think something like this would happen here,
but as the saying goes, "it can happen anywhere."

PS....i just posted up a couple more articles........

TigerJen,
As a college student I dont know what to think. After 911 colleges talk about these situations and the possibility of them happening all the time. Bomb threats were a common thing around here after 911, its sad that our world has come to the point where we arent suprised by these things anymore.

hiya Laz!

firstly, I'm glad I've been done with college.
secondly, if i were in college now, i'd be an emotional wreck
with having to worry about bomb scares.

thirdly, unfortunately around the area where i live there are many
people who still wear the rose-colored glasses and say "oh, it will
never happen here".......but I think since 9/11 that may have changed
for a while.....so who the hell knows?

Well last year...my school had quite a few number of bomb threats made onto us. Kinda getting bored of them now.

This situation does not surprise me although I had though the first time would be an organized group and not a lone actor. I guess I am weird but this particular type of situation is one I have thought about a few times while at college. I have thought about it a lot more since the terrorist attacks.

First that boy flies into a building, and now some estranged former
student claims to have a bomb and holds a bunch of students and
their professor hostage in their classroom.......what is this world
coming to? Sheesh!

I will keep all posted as I learn more in the coming days thru
local news around where I live.

Yea, you're right. It can happen anywhere.
Fairfield is not used to that kind of action. On the other hand Bridgeport usually takes the headlines in the Advocate on a daily basis. Thats why it gets headlines. It's out of the ordinary. At least it ended good.

the university I attend has a very good reputation and hence a lot of publicity. especially since september we are hardly ever out of the gossip pages, because of one particular person attending. because of this person they installed security CCTV cameras everywhere, but to be frank, my uni is not a campus uni and something like that could happen any time. but then... i guess being taken hostage also means that your professors are going to mark your essays really nicely then :D

*singing* Always look on the bright side of life....

Halo :rose:

CNN just had a bit about this. Scary indeed! What was this creep thinking?

Wonder if my newspaper still has an artical on last year's bomb threats on my school...

I agree w/ what you said about Ffld not used to the craziness
that Bridgeport usually gets.

The last bad incident that happened in Fairfield was probably when the British burned the town down in 1777.*joke*
Great town, beautiful beaches, beautiful women!;)

1hotjob.....are you from the Ffld area?

Oh yeah......haha.....1777 was millions of years ago and the
town was grown a lot since that time :D heehee

Since you seem to know that little fact, are you from the
Fairfield area? ;) An inquiring mind wants to know.......

PS....i worked at the front desk down at Penfield Pavilion for
6 summers back in my high school/college days........and yes,
Fairfield has some nice beaches...but that's another topic for
another day ;)

Not exactly. Close though. I have friends in the area. I'm kind of a Rev. War buff too, so I know the history of the tri-state area.
