On a lark, I'm hoping someone here in AH can help me identify a short story, a fragment of which has stuck with me for decades. For some reason I can only remember the beginning. I'm sure it's an inspiration for my first story here, Twelve Maxbridge Street. It's not a Lit story, because it probably predates the internet. But I hope the admins allow this post, since it's obviously not from any competition.
I can't pinpoint the time period any better than 1965 through the 1980's. Back in the day erotica was hard to come by. When I couldn't find any more stories like the ones listed below I shifted to detective stories... until I encountered the thousands available in 2021.
A self-possessed man enters what I suppose was known as a BDSM dungeon even then. He comes down stairs from the outside and approaches a sign in desk. That's it. That's all I can remember.
I'd love to find out how the whole story went. Does this ring bells for any of you?
