Hope for Your Least Read Poem

Hi
I'll read your orange poems later. Though, I think commented on one. And poetry doesn't usually get a high volume of reads. 110 isn't bad. My lowest is 219 and my highest is about 17,000 which is rather unusal for my poems.

my newer stuff seems to be accumulating reads at a much slower rate...I think I lost an audience I had built up when I was doing challenges and posting more last fall...

my least read has 112 reads, but is only 3 weeks old...(not counting one that posted yesterday...) Quiet Partings

liked your "orange & silver" set ~hellbaby~...

slightly off-topic:
I have noticed that my poems that are sadder tend to get similar amounts of reads but far fewer votes...even though I feel that some of them are very good and affecting works...

I read Canvas last night and liked it a lot. I vote on every poem I read but only read what I'm in the mood for. There are a few people who always vote and that is great because thats all the votes some poems have! So, thank you especially 'my erotic tale' and 'bridget 69'! The other nite I had a hell of a time finding a happy poem. For me, the erotic ones seem to get a lot more than the non erotic. My numbers are allover the place. The poems I think of as more universal, or direct in meaning get more votes than the ones that only make sense to me, there are a few that suprised me though with reads without votes. I've got one in the 800's with 2 votes. Something odd happened a few weeks ago, My Desire jumped 2800 votes in one day, I reported it because I though it was weird, it's about 9 times the average number of reads my poems have.

I thought a thread for your least read piece was a good idea. Post your least read and read a few of the others.

Silver&Orange ptll (110 readers)

Silver&Orange ptl (75 reads)
(poems about colors~not too interesting I guess)

I don't know how many reads this one of yours has

Velvet Tango

but I think it's really good.

This is a great idea for a thread. I'm gonna go uproot some overlooked poem of mine. :)

Thanks.
Velvet Tango is my favorite, thanks for reading it. I liked Bibliobliss a lot, especially the last three lines, the flower reference is great, every now and then I open a long unopened book and some petals of a memory fall out.

You're welcome.

Being read to is one of life's great pleasures, eh? Especially under erm certain circumstances. ;)

I found a poem of mine I love that got a lot of reads initially, but I know hasn't had any for quite a while. It's this one.

When someone likes what I wrote it lets me know l'm still sane. When none of it makes sense to anyone, that's when I guess I'm in trouble.
I love the gardenia and the moon against the dark sky I hear Billie Holiday's 'Lover Man' in the background.... :rose:

You got it exactly. My big fantasy is to be able to sing like Billie. Unfortunately when I sing Lover Man, it sounds more like Tweety Bird.

And congrats on your thousandth. You're a thousandaire now. :rose:

(you can change your title now, yknow)

Well, this is the lowest read count (Simpler Days), but it's still flagged as new so I'm not sure that counts. After that one, I have several kind of clumped about the 130-150 level.

Street Music

Cherokee

Wintry Night at Work

But, if 110 reads isn't bad, then I feel much better that so much of my stuff seems to be finding folk. <G>

I read them all and they're all really wonderful, but I liked Cherokee best. :)

I like Cherokee best too, not too much for dogs in general but I like the poem.

Hi ya.

Might have been the title, or not.
Anywho,
Try it ... see what ya think.
Honesty is appreciated~ :D

I did go read the others placed here. And voted. And commented on most. And what I knew would happen did.

Wind In My Hair got 4 more views and 1 comment.

Prized Poetry got 5 more views and 1 comment.

An Eye Blink Love got 6 more views and no comments.

No one really gives a shit.

Wanton Vixxxen? This is why I don't post here anymore. Well, one of the reasons anyway. I know these new views were generated by this post; these are old poems. Not likely they got viewed randomly by readers here. Why can't folks just say "Boo- those poems suck!" I don't care if thats whats said. At least I'll know someone cared a bit anyway.

C'mon, youse guys! For the new poets at least- jump in and teach! Share! Or slam! Just do something!

Christ...

Part of the problem is that Litland is a Story focused site, not a Poetry focused site.
The poetry forum consists of how many Literotica members?
How many Literotica members are there all together?
How many Literotica awards evolve around the poetry?
How many evolve around the stories?

The poetry section is nearly non-existent in the whole scheme of things. That's just how this site works.

More advertising that the poetry forum is here would be a good start to improve things. Anyone who spends time on the other boards should have a link to this forum in their sig lines and actively encourage any poets to come into this forum and participate. Once the membership is lifted, then the site will become more equally focused. But it takes lots of effort. Lots of time and effort.

As for your poems sucking Boo, that's not a forgone conclusion either. What's more likely is that they were 'overlooked'. Plenty of poems are overlooked and not mentioned. People stick with authors they know are fantastic and very new authors just to see if they are fantastic. The 'not so famous' are passed by often without even a first look. Some authors have a following, people click on their work and hang off every word, voting and oohing and aahing wherever possible.

Basically... Litland's focus isn't going to change a heck of a lot from what it is now. Basically, to get the things that are needed and wanted, the lessons the, comments the critiques, the space to write etc, then another site could be set up and run. There are plenty of free website places that could be used.

But as I said, it takes lots of time and lots of effort.
