Apart from the "well regulated militia" part. There isn't information yet on that. We know the shooter was a republican with an AR-15. But is he part of a well regulated militia? We don't know yet.
(EDIT. Photos are popping up of the shooter wearing the shirt of a right-wing militia. Nothing confirmed yet)
"- necessary to the security of a free State"

The target claimed on multiple occasions that he has intent of becoming a dictator.
A free State
A free state is not a dictatorship. And especially not under him.
The 2nd amendment was made to give the people the power to remove corrupt and dangerous autocrats. This is why people have guns

Was this right? No. Was is good? No. Shoot him in public? No.
Does he deserve it? ...
My first reaction when I read the headline? "Shame they missed"
(I am not from the USA)

Am I pessimistic to think that this may mark the beginning of a 2nd american civil war?

Not being pessimistic.
You are being a fool.

Breathe through your nose, and keep calm. 🙄
Noone is going to become a dictator. It's not designed to function like that. There can be growth of centralized government but not a little man running around like a king. No.

Civil war? Again, no. There aren't any ties between this standing Army or that. Remember in the 1860s an Army was not much more than men, horses and a few artillery pieces. Now it is much more complex. Again, it doesn't work that way.

Now, this is not to say some idiots on both sides of this issue will not run around, cause violence (it will happen, remember 2020? Everyone forgets 2020) I wouldnt pit it past the potential for riots and other stupid shit.
Chaos, probably. Civil war, no.

You're not from the USA...and I suggest... you stay out of the USA. If I were you, I'd take my suggestion.

Sigh, I so much wanna believe you but then there are the words out of the mouth of…. Know what? Never mind.

How about you turn and face the other way and be just as assured in telling your friends that democrats aren’t really coming to get your guns.

I’m sure there are plenty of militias ready and standing back just waiting for more shit to hit the fan so they can be unleashed. “Well regulated”?? I hope not, but hopefully more under control than the short adventure in “Civil War” which showed what something that Hollywood figures might happen.
