I think I need a hug.
I am a transplant from Texas to Florida. Most of my family is still in Texas. This is the first year ever in my life that I will not get to be with family at Christmas. I know I should quit whining and enjoy the ones that are here, but I just can't seem to get in the holiday mood. I usually put up my decorations the day after Thanksgiving, I did this year's last night, a half-hearted attempt at best.

Someone tell me a joke or something!

Will a huge bear hug and a cuppa egg nog do instead?

The miscellaneus gropes and fondles are optional ;)

I can think of no better medicine than a bear hug from you Jimmie, would you mind putting a splash of Crown Royal in my nog?

All gropes and fondles will be reciprocated.

I'm a little "homesick" too this year. Even though I've lived in New York my entire life, the close ones in my family are out west and my close friends here will be with their families! Plus the man I love is in the next time zone.

Huggs to you, and I'm sure we'll be meandering on line during the holidays and find some comfort here.:)

Now I feel like a fool for whining, at least my husband and two of my children plus one grandson (I have 4 children, and 7 grandkids) are here. I have no right to complain.

Hugs back to you, and you are right, I'll see you here.

Complain away, what makes you blue, makes you blue. There is no relativity about it. My darling is 12000 miles away, and even though I'm in the house my family have been in for 20 years, where I grew up, I feel a little lacking this Christmas.

Thank you all,
I can't tell you how happy I am to have found this board, and all of you. I can express myself in any mood and get wonderful answers, or if not an answer, support.
Thank you Enchanted, I know I am not alone!

My first Xmas spent away from family and friends was in Phoenix Arizona where they spray paint their Christmas trees pink and Santa wears Bermuda shorts. I spent Xmas eve in a French restaurant listening to a Mariachi band play "Felice Navidad" over and over again because it was the only Christmas song they knew. When the Apocolypse comes please, God, let it begin in Phoenix.

LMAO, thank you Dixon! I want to know why a mariachi band was in a French restaurant. I thought that was Mexican???
Florida isn't quite THAT wierd, but they come awfully close. That is not an insult to Floridians btw, I fit right in with most of you. I'm just slightly off-balance.

I'm very lucky. I have never spent a Christmas away from family. Not one. I can't imagine it being Christmas without them!
