Homeopathic Hospitals

I recently came across the claim that the United Kingdom has several - I believe the author said five - homeopathic hospitals. The source did not offer any more information on what they were or how they worked, and as the source has a heavy anti-homeopathy bias, I doubt it would supply much useful information on the topic.

Do these institutions exist? If so, are they a combination of methods, or straight homeopathy - or is my source possibly exaggerating by calling an institution a "homeopathic hospital" when it's a hospital that has added homeopathy to a full range of medical approaches? How would a "homeopathic hospital" work? Has anyone been treated at an institution to which the source might be referring?

Here is a link for you - Homeopathic Hospitals. These hospitals are all within the UK National Health Service and operate as autonimous units specialising only in homeopathic treatment. I understand the Glasgow hospital is under some threat due to budget problems.

I've not used any of the hospitals personally but I can tell you my homeopath is an absolute marvel. She's been working with me over recent months on my various illness conditions and whilst I cannot claim with any certainty that her treatment relieved conditions or whether they may have passed with the natural passage of time, there is immeasurable benefit gained from working through the problems and receiving treatment. I'm now back to working pretty much full time and with a massive backlog of work to tackle, hence my infrequent appearances on Lit.

The conventional medical team offered nothing to relieve any of my symptoms and largely remain mystified as to the precise nature of the neural infection. Belatedly they did attempt a positive diagnosis and identified a possible culprit, but have no course of treatment to propose.

Hope this helps with the information you seek.

I have no info on the hospitals, but my mum is a holistic therapist. She uses massage and aromatherapy mostly, but she is qualified and covered alsorts of different techniques in her college days. She is a damn good at reflexology (it's all about feet, baby) and she makes the most amazing potions for all kinds of ailments.

I have some burning oil and some massage oil that she made up with rose, camomile and frankincense which does wonders when my asthma is playing up. She made up a lotion for my daughter when she had an awful, itchy rash and the lotion just had high altitude lavender oil in it. We put some on, thinking more it would soothe it and we might see a difference in a few days -the next morning the rash was at least 50% gone!

They also call her a complimentary therapist, as what she works on isn't really supposed to replace conventional medicine but work along side it :) She currently works in a brain and spinal injury unit and she is always booked up to her eyeballs with clients, she started out doing a couple of afternoons a week, that went to full days because the deman was so high and now she works full time there because they've seen so much improvement in patients who go to see her :)

Neon, so glad to hear that you're feeling better and that's it excessive productivity and energy keeping you from us. I wouldn't dream of begrudging you that for the selfish benefit of having you about. :) Thanks very much for the link -

Homeopath. That's someone who's crazy-homophobic, isn't it?

It is indeed. I asked them to direct me to the homeophilic hospital, but they just gave me a coagulant and a blood transfusion instead.

You're too gentle. It undoubtedly deserved worse.

Like a good, long beating.

Please?
