Holy Shit Batman what is happening here?

I recently started what I thought was going to be a short story about a woman finding out about herself in the aftermath of a hurricane. (I started this before Wilma.) Now I find myself about two thirds through the story, with more ideas coming every time I look at the story, and I already have more than 15K words down. What happened to my short story?
