BERLIN, March 22 (Xinhuanet) -- German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer and Defense Minister Peter Struck Saturday jointly warned that Germany would pull its crew members out of NATO surveillance planes patrolling the Turkish airspace if Turkey pours it troops into northern Iraq.
??The warning message was announced after the two ministers attended a meeting of Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder's security cabinet on Friday.
??It was reported that some 1,000 Turkish troops had crossed intonorthern Iraq earlier Friday. But the Turkish military immediatelydenied the report.
This would cripple the protection mission. Not just flight crews, but maintenance, and, knowing Germany, they'd pull the cooks out too just for spite. No offense to the Turks, but I've heard that the food at the NATO base is crappy. (and overpriced) WTF are they thinking?
