Though the Holocaust occurred over 60 years ago......we
must not forget the horrors that the Jews and other
oppressed people that the Nazi regime put them thru....
6 million Jews died......and millions of other people....

Let us commemorate this day........with words of meaning,
words from the soul......

"In spite of everything, everyone is good at heart"
---Anne Frank ( I can't remember the quote word for
word......best that I can do for now)

Remembrance

by Judo©

The elephant remembers every step he's taken,
Every peanut bitten, every tree shaken.
The chemist remembers the elements of all,
Every reaction balanced, every proton's fall.

The wordsmith remembers the language of grace
From tongues long past of peoples and place.
The salmon remembers his birthing stream.
The path to his home is etched on a dream.

But the Jew remembers a nightmare of sin
Of lights made dark, of hate born within
When Evil convinced a nation to kill,
Solve all their problems - only blood to spill.

Citizens turned away as their hearts grew cold,
Hiding from the horror their own lips told,
Denying the result of six million still -
The holes left in life that no works can fill.

Our tools of remembrance are delicate at best
So while the heart still beats in our chest
Tell all the world, "There is racism yet!"
It's a lesson that we must never forget.

Oldie

Here's an old poem of mine about the Holocaust:

My mind is obsessed with the stench of the death
camps
Where the crematoria belched smoke twenty four
hours a day
Where the corpses piled up faster than they could
be disposed of
Where the Nazis killed people as casually as
eating breakfast

There was no should there
Only the blind will of the executioners and
masters
Hitler gesticulating through romantic daydreams
Where beautiful blonde women on their knees blew
supermen who conquered the world to the strains
of "Ride of the Valkyries"
Billowing up from the modern machinery of mass
murder

Toward the end, most of us began thinking about
escaping to Paraguay
But there were a few-- the sickest ones-- who went
into a frenzied spree of torture/murder while
there was still time
After the war, the best and the brightest went to
work for Washington
Children sold cigarettes in the rubble of the
burned-out city

Today the deathcamps have no walls
And the Minister of Propaganda created Joe Camel
The sacrificial lambs are slaughtered with loving
kindness
Helicopters with rockets scream into perpetual
Poland
