If you didn't hear, at Coachella, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dog danced and sung with a holographic (technically a 2D digital rendered) Tupac (aka: Holopac). Here it is (runs about 5 minutes). Thoughts?

And the latest--Holopac may be going on tour! From here:
The holographic Tupac Shakur, who stunned the crowd at last weekend's Coachella Festival in Southern California, may be bringing the show on the road. The rapper, who was murdered over 15 years ago, "appeared" at Coachella on Sunday in the form of a weird, glowing 2D digital rendering alongside headliners Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. Real-life guest stars included Eminem, 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa.

According to The Wall Street Journal, "Representatives for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg plan to discuss logistics for a tour involving the two performers and the virtual Tupac...."

I'm glad I saw it. I've never heard such a load of Effin' nonsense in my life.
The technical stuff might be clever, but the language wasn't.
No wonder my grandchildren swear so much, if this is the example they are set.

Rap = Crap, IMO.

This sounds good. Maybe they can even create a holo image of him getting gunned down.

I imagine a world in which holo Jesus floats above churches, holo cops appear to frighten off criminals, holo salesman appear in your living room...

Oh Brave New World...!

"Help me, Obi-Wan ... uhhh ... I mean 'I down wit' yo ho's, take off yo cloze, I be punchin' yo nose ..." :D

That is gorgeous. I love seeing science and technology used in th service of art.

Complaining about the language is like complaining that the French speak French.

I love some rap. More so, I like the rap that has a serious emotion or message behind it. Not shit like 'tip drill' that just dehumanizes and humiliates women.

Kanye West, I actually like a lot of his more recent work. Especially 'all of the lights'. Its just intense. Also, more music. I like songs that are more music then Rhymes.

You mean, if the hologram got killed people might finally believe he was dead?

That was actually the first thing I thought of...Church services can now have an actual Jesus appear to the congregation. And if they don't tell, everyone will think it was a miracle.

All you need to know about rap and its culture is that Tupac was a role model/hero/ and martyr to them.

It really says it all when an entire culture mourns the death of such a despicable human being.

Well, all you need to know about rock and roll is that they idolize Chuck Berry, who liked to film unsuspecting women urinating in the bathrooms of his club.

It really says it all, doesn't it?

I like you, but you really need to grow up when it comes to your generalization of entire cultures.

There was the human Tupac, and the musician 2pac. I don't know much about the human, but the musician 2pac has had some magical music moments.

I like Brenda's Got A Baby and I Ain't Mad At Cha, I don'T think that most of his fans are with his political view of gangstership, they only like the music.

I also like this idea that science can help a musical event of some sort.
But:
Sorry, Stella, the parallel with the French./ does not work, with me.
Are you really suggesting that foul language is an essential part of this noise ?

If you ever watched German McDonalds-only-consuming suburb fatties trying to gangsta-rapping about "the ghetto", you know the answer is: YES!

I'm not only suggesting it, I'm saying so straight up.
It isn't worth your time to remonstrate against it. "Motherfucker" is the rhythm of funk, the way "Blue Danube" is the rhythm of waltz-- and there were people who were horrified at the horrible noise when they first heard waltzes, too, you know. It was devil music, vulgar, even obscene, O tempora O mores and all that jazz-- which also was detestable and degenerate and obscene.

It's also worth remembering that every genre of good music in america was inspired by black people. Rap/hiphop (and to a lesser degree, jazz) is the only genre that wasn't taken over and refurbished by whitey before it hit mainstream.
