"Cook that goose!"

...Lime chanted on another thread, and beside the fact that the only present goose here is both hot and tender enough as it is, it got me thinking. Goose for christmas? Never heard of such a thing.

On our table tomorrow (yeah, we're a little premature over here) we'll have an assorted blend of baked ham, roasts, creamed kale, wort bread, caraway bread, herring, white fish, ale, ale, ale, ale and snaps. No birds whatsoever.

What's your christmas dinner looking like?

well, my sister is a bit....OFF...
we will be having goose. i will be cooking it, praying for salvation there.
we will also have prime rib and tons of seafood... stuffed mushroom caps, asparagus, melted brie in a bread bowl... puddings galore ...
then
the booze
YUM
i may just drink my dinner if the goose doesnt come out well.

The inlaws meal will likely be Turkey, Ham, turnip, tatas, stuffing, sweet potatoes done with marshmallow crust, and veggies and salads.

My family meal is at Swiss Chalet this year, all us girls are taking a break from cooking. The festive dinner with a toblerone bar! lol

A big bird here. Which reminds me, I must take it out of the freezer!

We will be having the usual: turkey, stuffing, the streaky bacon which I cover the turkey in prior to cooking, pigs in blankets (chipolata sausages, wrapped in streaky bacon), roast potatoes, brussel sprouts (yuk), carrots, broccoli, roast parsnips, cranberry sauce and my favourite bit: bread sauce. Followed by Christmas pudding, served with brandy butter and thick cream. YUM!

I'm actually going to attempt to make Christmas dinner this year. A ham....a huge fricken ham.

what was I thinking?

Loving, caring thoughts about the most important people in your life?

Lucky you. I hope you enjoy your stay and may your Holiday season be filled with merriment and joy.

Normally it would be turkey served up at My nanna's but this year Mum and Sarah are coming to me.

As we don't have room to have a sit down meal we're just having a buffet.

cold cooked meats, dips, tortilla chips, carrot, celery peppers (or crudities if we're being posh) salmon nibble things (mums bringing those) cocktail sausages, sausage rolls (for my daughter really) and bread and stuff *L* With home made Christmas cake (I'm icing that tommorrow) home made mince pies (making those tommorrow) home made christmas cookies (frozen. icing those tommorrow) and fruit salad and possibly home made pavalova (Making the meringues tonight if I remember!)

So yeah should be fun and it's certainly not traditional. Boxing day we're at the in laws and that'll be the whole turkey extravaganza!
