Hobbies

My hobbies at the moment include home brewing. I make several different types of mead (honey wine), the most recent experimental batch was a take on mojito, a lime and mint mead. I'm also learning to play the bass guitar.

I've mainly been remodeling my house, of course I work in construction so it's rather like doctor heal thyself. But I've taken several classes on making my own fishing rods so that's been a blast. I'd like to keep making those but it's way more fun in the warmer weather.

I build jewelry boxes, moving on to humidors soon...a few tables, fancy cabinets, anything out of wood.

A couple litsters have some of my work.

Mainly because I prefer to do it outside.

OK, I would have thought there would be issues with bugs and stuff getting into the glue or laquer or whatever

I have wanted to build a fishing rod for a while now, I have bought some handmade ones

I have a converted greenhouse that I use as my shop, The Ginger has laid claim to one of my garages for his woodworking and I was/am happy with that arrangement. It took awhile to convert the greenhouse but I'm happy with it now.

running, weights, reading, keeping up with the science shit, and lit. the only thing I collect is vintage clothes. I go through phases where I paint, sketch or sew.

gardening, reading, indoor rowing. my life revolves around creation, so i don't consider that a hobby, but a life well lived.

I make beer though I haven't in about a year. Trying wine with my dad. No screaming success yet. I think you gave me one of your mead recipes but I dont remember what thread. I should track it down.

What do you make them out of? Ive never tried to make a rod. Ive been making crawler harnesses though for this springs walleye season. my wife has good luck using them for smallies too

Gardening mostly.

I'm on the trail of a rare, almost extinct member of the hibiscus family that once flourished here. Its called LIPSTICK HIBISCUS or SLEEPING HIBISCUS, and TURKS CAP. The bud never opens wide and is filled with sweet nectar.

Anything I do musically i consider part of my vocation. so, even though I'll play several instruments, that I didn't learn "traditionally" like my main, I still lump it in with profession.

I took up poker playing more seriously, and it has become a big part of my life. I would call it a hobby where I sometimes make my money back.

turk's cap isn't a true hibiscus and grows as a native here.

seeds

eta. family, yes. more like a bastard cousin to the traditional hibiscus.

Good luck with the humidors. I imagine they're more complicated then they look.

I do a fair number of jewelry boxes..just did one for a guy to keep his 40 cal browning pistol in.

Humidors really just need the spanish cedar lining and my toughest part is coming up with a design...so many fancy woods to choose from.

I do lots of harnesses too...where do you fish

Cars and martial arts - stereotypical, yeah, I know. And cooking (food, not meth).

Mostly the lower huron river and detroit river. Ive got some nice sized sunfish from Kensington metro park. I use 30 lb test with number 2 hooks or 8 pound with number 6. Just started learnimg how to make them this summer when I got back into fishing.
