I got my wife a Hitachi Magic Wand for her birthday.
While this is not our first vibrator, it is by far the most powerful. I am concerned that over an extended period it might dull her nerve endings or make it harder for her to respond to stimulation. Am I worrying about nothing? Incidentally we've used it once and she was quite impressed by its performance. It is a little bulky , somewhat noisy, but boy did she get off on it!!
Thanks

WHY ARE THERE SO MANY THREADS ABOUT MAGIC WHEN THEY AREN'T REALLY ABOUT MAGIC BUT FAKE MAGIC NOT REAL MAGIC LIKE KAZAM THE MAGICAL RAPEING GENI WHO LIVES THE BOOMBOX OF THE BUCK TOOTHED KID.

p.S. ASK A DOCTOR TO PUT SOME MORE NERVE ENDINGS IN HER>

i saw a late nite tv ad where they did this for a guy first they took hundreds of little plugs out of one part of his head and then put them in another part of his head and the girls really liked him afterward and he was really happy and he had a speedboat and everything though now that i think about it i might be confusing it with something else maybe you can get extra nerve endings in a can too

You've discovered the favorite vibrator of many women - the Hitachi Magic Wand has a fantastic reputation, and apparently for good reason (I've never used one myself). No, you don't have to worry about her becoming less responsive because she's using a vibrator - even a strong one. While it is possible to become dependent on one particular type of stimulation to achieve orgasm, it's no more likely than her becoming dependent on frigging her own clit in a particular way, or you needing a specific grip on your cock. (That is to say, very unlikely.) There are other threads on this board that talk about this very subject - try searching and see what you find. Have fun!

Yeah, what she said. Except that I do own one and have for almost 20 years. One of the greatest things? NO BATTERIES! And the thing lasts almost forever! I only had to replace my first one last summer.

No need to worry. The wand is powerfull, yes, but it doesn't dull the nerve endings at all.

If ol' reliable sex gur, Dr. Ruth recommends it to some of her patients, it's gotta have some zing!

And Chele... almost 20 years?? Wow... I can only imagine how many mind blowing orgasms that must've been! :)

Actually, the Wand is only responsible for just a very few "mind blowing" orgasms. It sits in the drawer by my bed and is only brought out when I need to cum NOW! I don't use when I'm with some one (other than the man who first introduced me to it, and he's long gone - hmmm...a vibrator that lasts longer than a relationship?), and normally I'm not in the mood for any type of buildup. That's what's good about - it's so strong, it gets me off without have to really think about it. Then I can tuck it away and get some sleep!

As normal, almost all my "mind blowing" orgasms have been shared.

My Favorite!!

I have been using a vibrator for 15 years and I have an entire closet full of toys and have experimented with all sorts of gadgets.

By far the Hitachi is my favorite. I recommend it to anyone and actually bought one for my best friend.

On the issue of loss of sensitivity, I must say it can happen. I masturbate anywhere from 4 times a week to everyday. The length of my sessions vary as well but they average anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. The Hitachi manufacturers recommend using their product for no longer than 25 minutes. Over time (years) I have noticed a small loss of sensitivity. I find that when I stop using vibrators for about two weeks that sensitivity returns.

I am pasting a website page that discusses this loss of sensitivity and the originator of this site calls himself an "orgasm engineer". I do not and have not purchased his products so I am not pushing them. However, I do enjoy reading his comments and recommendations.

He calls this sensitivity loss "the death of the clitoris". He highly suggests never using a vibrator. Here's the website that can explain it in more depth.

http://www.actionlove.com/extra/vibrator.htm

I do believe the length of use and the frequency of use of vibrators is the key.

On another note, the Hitachi by itself is not for insertion. I just purchased the G-Spot attachment for it and am enjoying it for a different feel.

Have Fun!!!

Is there a cordless version? I don't have an available outlet near my nest.

Not that I've ever seen...

I've only seen the plug-in version and I don't think they make a cordless version. I consider that one of the advantages since you don't need batteries. The cord is short though so I use an extension cord to the nearest outlet.

My close friends have joked around saying I caused the blackout...yeah yeah yeah...everyone's a comedian. :D

I have the exact opposite feeling after my orgasm. It tends to perk me up!

It's nice to know that you still have the ol' stand by handy...just for such emergencies!

That wasn't you plugging the wand up to the emergency generator the other night was it??:D

Use em - hell yeah! -wear out?

As a man, I've always (A:WAYS) bought any girlfriend with out one a Magic Wand!

As for wearing it out - you must mean the vibrator. When I lived in Salt Lake City, my wandering BYU girlfriend called me to whine that it was broken. So I told her to go buy one for herself!

Way to tell her to be self sufficient!

But admittedly it could've been a great invite line for you to go over and replace that >ahem< broken vibrator!
