Ember Wolfe
Daughter of Sebastian Wolfe.

She sat at the open bar at the office party her father insisted on dragging her to so she could meet the people she would be working with the following week without it being tense with them knowing who she was. She could care less about such corporate events. They were so shallow and boring to her.

She sat back with bourbon in her hand with a sigh. She knew that none of them would notice her suspecting she was some girlfriend or whatever of someone in the company. The surprise would come when she finally started work next week. While she sat there nursing her drink growing far more bored than she had ever been since her mother's last social party trying to pawn her off on some son or grandson of some wealthy friend since she did not like or understand her daughters desire to work in security and do all that training and weapons and all that rubbish. She was about to leave till she felt someone sit down next to her.

Alexander Montgomery or Alex to those that knew him slowly walked across the room almost as if he was walking across some stage with the spotlight on him. His steps were light and purposeful as he made his way to the bar as he needed a good drink.

He wasn't a fan of these company mixers even though this was only for the more VIP members of the financial firm owned by Mr. Sebastian Wolfe. But he was expected to be there so here he was in all his glory. He was a rising star within the company and he knew it, Mr. Wolfe knew it, and everyone there knew it. But with his success came a litany of those that wanted to be around him and chat him up most of which he found utterly boring, snobbish, or pathetic.

He climbed onto a stool and leaned his elbows onto the elegant wood of the bar which was perfectly clean not like dive bars or college bars. The bartender looked up at him and was about to speak but Alex cut him off. "Booker's Bourbon on the rocks". Alex loved his bourbon and Booker's though strong went down smooth and was always one of his favorites.

Taking his glass of bourbon Alex turned and leaned back against the bar surveying the room for something or someone interesting. It was then he noticed her sitting only a few feet from him at the bar. She was young though how young he wasn't sure but she was also the most attractive woman in the entire place. He had never seen her at any other company functions, meetings or around the building because he knew he wouldn't have forgotten her. Alex was good at sizing people up and that was one of the things that made him so good at his job and he could tell right away that this lovely creature was both bored and just enduring the evening.

Without turning to face her he simply said in a voice loud enough to be heard by her and perhaps the bartender but no one else, "Its all so silly isn't it?"

Are they all this boring?

She smiled as the bartender set another bourbon down for her. Sipping the bourbon she glanced over to see who she was suddenly telling to and found him quite attractive.... Perhaps this party was not a complete bust.

"No, sometimes they start playing charades and then the fun really starts", Alex replied before finally turning to meet her eyes. Her eyes sparkled like stars in the twilight sky and he held them for just a few brief seconds before taking another sip of his drink.

Alex did notice she did seem to take more interest in him than she had given to the party itself.

"I don't think that we have met I'm Alex". He stepped closer to her inhaling the scent of her perfume as he offered his hand in greeting.

Ember.

Holding her hand out to take his.

Any idea how to get out of here and salvage whatever is left of the evening Alex?

She smiled to him.much to the bartenders annoyance.

Alex's lips curled upward in a rather wicked smile when she suggested they make a hasty retreat.

"I always have an exit strategy ready to deploy on a moments notice. However getting such a beautiful and delicate flower as yourself across this room intact might require some heavy duty security."

He then offered his arm to her and said, "lets go be somewhere else." Just before he did he sent a text message so that his driver would have the SUV limo waiting for them by the time they exited the venue. Normally Alex liked to drive and drove one of his several sports cars or one of his classic muscle cars but tonight called for a bit more pomp and circumstance which was why he had hired an executive limo service that only catered to the upper crust of society.

Dance us out of here handsome.

She winked taking his arm as they made their way across the room. Luckily her father did not see her leaving as they made their way to the door.

Well now Alex where to go?

Alex gave her question a quick consideration before answering.

"That all depends on you? Were you looking for someplace with more people or do you want to go somewhere that is quiet like a coffee shop or maybe down to the marina. I have a small boat there where we can chat and not be interrupted perhaps another glass of bourbon which I believe you were drinking as I have an excellent collection."

He paused and looked across to her not wanting to rush or push her into anything but not holding back his look of desire either.

Hmmm... The Marina sounds perfect.

His expression was not lost on her as she moved to get out the door. Luckily she had simply met her father here and her leaving was free from his knowledge as well.

Let's go.

"Please take us to the seaside marina", Alex instructed the driver and after a second they were on their way. It was only about a five minute drive as traffic was very light.

Turning his attention back to his companion Alex felt the need to explain, "Now don't expect some big yacht but I think you will find it comfortable. I often spend more time there then my actual home I just seem to relax better on the water and can sit out on the deck and just reflect on things."

A few minutes later the limo came to a stop and the driver got out and opened the door where Alex slipped him a nice tip before dismissing him for the moment.

They walked down the pier till they came to a boat slip and Alex says, "Here we are what do you think?"

Yes very nice.

She smiled stepping from the limo.

Perfect.

Alex lead her to the little ramp leading to the boat then stepped on board first. He offered her his hand to come aboard. The water was calm and the boat stable but it was the gentleman thing to do.

He couldn't help but notice how her face glowed in the moonlight she was so very beautiful and he did a quick double check to look for a ring or the tale tale sign of a tan line on her finger.

Seeing none he smiled at her saying, "Welcome aboard the Nyghtflyer." Then gestured towards the main cabin door.

It's beautiful.

Walking towards the door she glanced back over her shoulder with a smile.

So peaceful. I like this.

Alex just smiles and follows her before speaking.

"It belonged to my father and was bit worse for wear I had it completely restored with new interior, motor overhaul and some modernization. Cost me a small fortune but was worth every penny. This is where I come when I need to get away from it all."

He paused making his way over to the small bar and pulling out two glasses. Reaching into the compact ice machine Alex pulled three cubes of ice out with the tongs and placed in a glass then three more for the second. He then opened a cabinet and brought out a bottle of Booker's Bourbon filling the glasses about half full.

"Be careful with this 124 proof but is smooth as if it was a good 80 proof", Alex cautioned her.

"Would you prefer to sit here inside or move to the upper deck?"

Under the stats would be nice.

Taking the drink and taking a drink with a smile.

Very good. Lead the way.

Alex started to take her hand but hesitated before opening the door and holding it for her. Then leading her to the small steps that led to the upper deck.

There soft lights near the floor lighting up so you could see to walk but the stars and moon provided most of the light. A captains chair sat in front of steering wheel and console to so the boat could be piloted from the top deck.

Behind and to the sides was a comfy U shaped padded bench or lounge seating with a table bolted to the deck near the middle.

Alex stopped at the console pushed a button and soft jazz music began playing from the speakers.

He took a seat near the table.

She closed her eyes smiling at the music as she sat down.

So much better than the party. Though why hesitate on taking my hand?

Alex was shocked at her question more the fact that she had seen his hesitation. It was only for less than a second and he was quite certain his face hadn't betrayed him. For once in quite some time Alex didn't have a response that was both witty and immediate. The main reason being he wasn't even sure why he hesitated if he was being truthful with himself. But he was caught now and had to the lady an answer.

"I'm not sure honestly, I certainly wanted to take your hand but the timing seemed off or most likely maybe some fear you might pull away from me."

Alex sat beside her turned a bit sideways on the lounger his knee only a few inches from hers and looked directly into her eyes. He always believed the proverbial saying that they were the window to one's soul. But hers were a mystery to him unreadable. Yes, they were beautiful moonlight highlighting them and he could lose himself in them but beyond that nothing.

He finally broke the uncomfortable silence, "Ember you appear to be an enigma to me and that doesn't happen very often. I have never seen you before tonight and that in itself isn't strange but the fact you were at a company function and I haven't at least seen you is unusual."

Alex paused to take a sip of the amber colored liquid in his glass feeling the familiar taste as it slipped down his throat with only the slightest burn despite the high proof of the bourbon.

"But even more than that there is a way that you carry yourself that most women other than a select few do. A presence of extreme confidence that regardless of the situation isn't to big or to challenging for you. It's not forced but a natural thing that you might not even realize you do either that or I'm so full of shit and the bourbon is talking", Alex said with a laugh.

"But the important this is that you choose to share this evening with me despite the fact you could have picked any man in that room or any other room so thank you."

He tilted his glass towards hers in a toast, "To boring company parties, mysterious women and new friends."

New in town and was invited by someone who took off before we did.

She chuckled a little mot wanting to scare him with the whole being Sebastian Wolfe's daughter.

As for noticing things that has always sort of been my gift or problem if you as my brothers.

Holding her glad up at the toast.

As for taking my hand Ithought we escaped boring office party for fun.

Alex clinked his glass against hers as she simply replied, "touche" took a big drink and and swallowed slowly enjoying the taste.

"You are so very correct we did leave a boring party for more fun. So what's a party without a little dancing to get us started."

Alex moved to the console setting his glass down on the table and changed the music from jazz to a slow song perfect for a very slow dance."

He turned and walked back to Ember holding out his hand, "Shall we dance a bit"?

Thought you would never ask.

Taking his hand she stood and smiled softly to him as they began to dance. The music was a beautifully slow sensual song as she faded into the music as they moved in each others embrace.

Alex felt her smooth warm hand take his as they moved to the middle of the deck. He pulled her close to him with both hands finding their way to the small of her back.

They begin to slowly move to the slow beat of the music as the moon almost appeared to beam a spotlight down on them and them alone.

Ember smelled wonderful and he relished in having her body so close to his own every step, move, and look was purely sensual, passionate, and her eyes were alive and energetic.

He pulled her a bit closer and leaned his head down towards hers telegraphing his intent to kiss her.

Her lips parting slightly as she leaned closer as he leaned closer. Her eyes sinking into his as she moved a hand to gently brush a stray lock of hair from his face as they were slowly just a breath away from the intended kiss.

Ember's face and lips moved closer in response and Alex pressed his lips against her own and paused for just a second before pushing his bottom lip between hers.

His hand at the small of her back pressed a bit harder and he could feel her soft but firm breasts begin to press against him. The smell of her was intoxicating and the taste of her lips was nearly maddening.

Softly she curled into the kiss arms draped around his shoulders hugging him gently to her. This was so peaceful and perfect even if it wasn't exactly normal for her. Once the kiss broke she studied his eyes for a m9ment seeing what she could read from him.
