As usual, the latest issue of Out magazine has a fashion spread. They feature a couple of tomboyish lesbians (I don't say masculine because they're careful to retain some femininity) wearing manly clothes. Does anybody have information on what hip young dykes are wearing these days? Where do they shop? (I'd ask the girls in my local clubs but I'm terribly bashful about that kind of thing.)

How young is young?

Moreover, how careful were they to retain some femininity?

I would assume that *young* would be younger than me. As I will soon be 31, I think she's talking about those in the early to mid twenties...but i could be wrong (and usually am!!)

lil girl:rose:

I'm wearing brown cargos from the Old Navy (no logo), a Coffee People, "Human Being Coffee" T, and a pair of Sketchers. I could never be accused of retaining my femininity, however. Or being hip. But I am young and queer!

I am no expert, but I live in San Francisco. Some of my closest friends are . . . . .

Anyhow. I've noticed that the image of "Rosie the Riveter" is very popular on t-shirts and purses, that sort of thing. She's the WWII propaganda figure of the woman in a head scarf making a muscle.

And, somehow, irresistable.

This is something I never know. I ought to be the first female to get the Queer Eye treatment.

I dont think you will run at all, unless Im running behind you snapping my singletail.

I havent been around much. I am getting ready to go back to school this fall and then I was in the big blackout. Its nice to come back and get welcomed by such a sweetie.

I like my jeans extra low-cut and relatively tight, but I like my belts to look like seatbelts, my shoes to look like sneakers and my shirts to look like t's (t's that fit properly, not that too-small, belly baring stuff). I don't dress especially feminine - the tomboy in me won't allow it - but I do like to wear really big earrings and a big, silver, cuff-like bracelet doohickey quite often.

I'm only a part-time lesbian, but I am the consummate tomboy who apparently retains some feminity because the men don't seem to mind how I dress.

Do you still get all the benefits if you only go the part-time route?

At the pub last night, I met a really cool lesbian couple, friends of another friend of mine. I wish I exuded their ubercool vibe. The doctor of the pair was wearing faded bootcut jeans, an untucked black button-down shirt with a cool weave design on the front, black sandals, with a pale tint on her toe nails. The songwriter was taller and leaner, and wearing tight jeans, a dark tanktop, tattoos on her arms and back, chunky silver bracelets, spiky hair, and sandals with bright toe polish. Neither fussed with makeup; they just looked comfortable in their skin and their clothes.

And I just came across a site, Dyke Tees, that sells tees and undies. These should be in every hip lesbian's lingerie drawer. :)

There are benefits?

Yes... No one told you?

Is there a 401K plan too? lol
How about stock options? :p

I heard that the latest hip fashion was to walk around completley buck-naked these days. ;) Yup, it's true it's true! *nods head*
