Hillary Clinton, a leading opponent of DP World's takeover of some US port operations, was this week forced to admit that she did not know her husband had advised Dubai leaders on how to handle the growing dispute.

So, Hillary didn't know that her husband had advised the leaders of Dubai to the tune of $450,000? What the hell did she think the $450,000 was for? The money was reported on her required income statement.

We got a mirror image of that over here, Tessa Jowell (Minister of something I'm not sure of) knows 'nothing' about her husbands business dealings with Italian politician Silvio Berlusconi which resulted in a pay off of something like $440,000 which paid off the mortgage on their property only weeks after she'd signed the papers to agree the loan in the first place.

This is kind of a ass-backwards scandal though.

He was paid to get the deal through.

She is opposing it.

For once, it sounds like the American people are being served, and the people who hired a lobbyist are getting screwed.

That said, it's entierly plausible to me that she honestly didn't know about his dealings. This is not exactly an ozzie & harriet relationship and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they each kept separate accounts and assets.

I've known several marriages where the wife was completly or at least semi ignorant of where her husbands money came from. In some, so long as the bills got paid, I doubt seriously it would have mattered to the wife if he was out robbing liquor stores. In one case I vividly recalll the husband got fired (I know this because I fired him). He took a similar job with a rival company. I met his wife at the store some six months after the fact and she had no clue he had been fired. None whatsoever. She even invited me to their home for a party she was throwing.

You're making a leap of deduction here that, in my experience, isn't founded.

No, I think the self proclaimed 'Smartest Woman in the World' knew what Bill was up too! Knew and didn't care.

Oh, and I agee with you're feelings about the Clintons, I too hate them both for many reasons not just because they are Democrats.

I'm not saying she didn't know, only that it is entierly possible she didn't.

I'm usually ready to hang her in effigy for any excuse, but this one just sems to me to be too plausible to discount her ignorance.

The Dubai deal is done, isn't it? Signed and sealed. The various 'reviews' are simply after the fact window washing unless Reps get really scared (there are some pretty hostile conservative columnists).
