Yikes! New Behind-the-Scenes Book Brutalizes the Clinton Campaign

"Shattered" is sourced almost entirely to figures inside the Clinton campaign who were and are deeply loyal to Clinton. Yet those sources tell of a campaign that spent nearly two years paralyzed by simple existential questions: Why are we running? What do we stand for?

If you're wondering what might be the point of rehashing this now, the responsibility for opposing Donald Trump going forward still rests with the (mostly anonymous) voices described in this book.

This passage describes the mood inside the campaign early in the Iowa race (emphasis mine):

"There wasn't a real clear sense of why she was in it. Minus that, people want to assign their own motivations – at the very best, a politician who thinks it's her turn," one campaign staffer said. "It was true and earnest, but also received well. We were talking to Democrats, who largely didn't think she was evil."

Our own voters "largely" don't think your real reason for running for president is evil qualified as good news in this book. The book is filled with similar scenes of brutal unintentional comedy.

The Clinton campaign was convinced that Obama won in 2008 not because he was a better candidate, or buoyed by an electorate that was disgusted with the Iraq War. Obama won, they believed, because he had a better campaign operation – i.e., better Washingtonian puppeteers. In The Right Stuff terms, Obama's Germans were better than Hillary's Germans.

They were determined not to make the same mistake in 2016. Here, the thought process of campaign chief Robby Mook is described:

"Mook knew that Hillary viewed almost every early decision through a 2008 lens: she thought almost everything her own campaign had done was flawed and everything Obama's had done was pristine."

So we have Hilary to thank for President Trump. Thank God she is finished with politics!

Despite Everything, I Am Happy Hillary Lost

I read “Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton’s Doomed Campaign,” a book by two reporters for The Hill who promise to make you feel sympathy for the defeated Democratic nominee and her followers. It didn’t work on me.

Page after page reinforces the conclusion that this is a woman who does not, cannot, does not want to learn from her mistakes.

When you think about her policy history, this rings true. After all, she voted to overthrow the secular socialist dictator of Iraq in 2003, lost the presidency in 2008 because of that vote, yet then as secretary of state advised Obama to arm and fund the radical jihadis against the secular socialist dictators of Libya and Syria. About which — despite creating two failed states — she has no regrets. There’s really no other way to put this, so I’ll just say it: this makes her an idiot.

She didn’t have the right personality to lead human beings. She didn’t deserve to be president. America, and the world, are better off without her.

Republican idiot committee chair Sen. Chuck Grassley spent a whole bunch of time trying to piss on the Trump Russia investigation. We don’t know why, but he has been trying to kill the investigation this week, so he spent much of his opening statement saying the Pee Hooker dossier had been completely discredited (it hasn’t). Grassley sent Comey a letter last week doing everything he possibly could to change the subject from the actual investigation, and instead talk about how it’s so inappropriate that the FBI is doing all this silly Trump Russia investigating, all based on a dossier compiled by an old British spy. (The FBI’s investigation is based on a fuckton more than that.)

Democratic ranking member Sen. Dianne Feinstein used her opening statement to say shit is fucked up with this whole Trump Russia collusion, and also she would like some answers mister on why Comey handled Hillary Clinton’s emails right before the election in such a very stupid way.
