The Keeper Process

Deadline:
The Keeper deadline will be exactly one (1) week after the last game of the World Series. This will allow you to gauge the performance of your playoffs-bound players before committing them to Keeper status.

# of Keepers:
Each team will designate five (5) Keepers, who will remain on your team’s roster the following season. All unprotected players will be automatically dropped from your team and moved the to FA pool.

If any team fails to designate Keeper players, the five (5) players who ranked highest on Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball at the end of the regular season will automatically be kept. Five (5) players MUST be kept and if, for example, only two (2) are designated as keepers, I will automatically keep the three (3) highest ranked players from the team's roster.

Trades (off-season):
You may conduct trades at your discretion in the off-season. Once you’ve arrived at a trade, I will require a PM from BOTH parties confirming said trade. If, after a reasonable time (7 days), I do not receive PM’ed confirmations from both parties, I will void the trade. You may trade until the first day of spring training ’08, at which time the League will be frozen in preparation for the draft. On this same day, I will circulate a LIVE DRAFT date and time.

Abandoned teams:
Abandoned teams will have their players automatically dropped and moved the to FA pool. Teams will be considered abandoned if I do not receive a response to the live draft date and time.

Draft:
Process to be determined.

Can we at least rename the league "Juuuust a bit outside"?

Jesus. I was going to call my team that. I swear. I was just joking with my wife tonight and said that line and then: "how can these guys lay off pitches that close."

I've just bumped it to the top of the queue in Netflix.

A special edition DVD of Major League comes out next week I think.

"Better teach this kid some control before he kills someone."

Or, "Blow me ump."

Baseball overload!

Isn't this grand? I think this is going to be the best season I've had in years because I will be hanging out with everybody in these leagues.

My wife and I celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary this summer. But May 18 will be the anniversary of our first date in 1994 - to a game! I might do something baseball themed that weekend to celebrate.

We've got trips planned this year to see the Pirates lose in Cincy, Seattle, NYC, Philly and maybe Chicago.

We'll be ok if we avoid quoting lines from Back to the Minors.

Wow! My dream. A trip like that.

5 separate trips. Cincy is next weekend. Seattle is late June, NYC early June, Philly late July and I think Chicago is late August or September.

In 2005 we did a trip the week the Bucs played in Yankee Stadium and Fenway. That was a trip. And they won at Fenway!

Five trips are even better!

Hey, islandman, not to bog you down with details, but at somepoint we'll need to know:

1) How many players we can keep
2) What date we need to turn in our keepers
3) If you'll allow off season trades of kept players

And I'm sure there's other things we're not thinking of.

I curse you and the woman who bore you...

1) I'm going to give that some thought. Most I've seen keep 2 infielders, 1 outfielder, 1 SP and 1 RP.

2) Last day of the regular season.

3) Yes, they'll be reported to me and I will populate the teams with keepers at the start of next season.

If teams bail out, their players go to the FA pool. If new teams are added...I've got an entire season to figure this bit out.

This is going to be really funny if we can't get at least 10 teams...

So far, we have 8, with Sylph and her guy yet to register. :)
