You’d have to make it a progressive school- they usually gender segregate sports teams. Or maybe it’s not official, just sparring?

In some places they still do allow boys to wrestle girls on the high school level.

One of the characters is a real female. The other was born a man but identifies as a woman, so they let him rassle with the gals. Of course it is all a ploy to get his mitts on the cute, athletic chicks on the team.
But it would be less clunky to just write a gay male story about two male wrestlers. Or two lesbian wrestlers.

Underperforming wrestler on the men's team is too embarassed to ask his teammates for help, so he asks his friend on the women's team for some informal practice on the side.
If you want this to be romance, they both insist that it's all purely platonic. But, of course, they inevitably fall prey to their hormones after weeks of sweating and grappling.
If you want this to have more porn logic, she motivates him with "If you can pin me, you can fuck me".
Or both! They've been platonic friends forever, and sexual teasing is just part of their banter, but it doesn't mean anything. "If you pin me, you can fuck me" is just a joke that they both laugh off.
