Vegas has more then 2 million people. I'd call that a high population area, asshole. Plus they have this thing called the Strip where every major hotel and casino is located. Sound familiar, dolt?

I don't know if anyone remembers, but about three years ago there was an anthrax scare there. It really brought attention nationwide to the threat of biological, or germ, warfare.

Hey... going to post this on Laurel's thread too... I'm just talking for myself here - not Laurel or Manu.

Bottom line is that when we polled those who had signed up for Vegas, the majority said they would not be coming. Not everyone because of concern about flying but some because of money, school or other reasons. And - of the 30 plus people who said they were definitely going to be there - only about half of them actually bothered to respond to the emails or posts here on the board. From my point of view I could only assume that meant they wouldn't be coming to Vegas either.

Now - as far as I was concerned - considering Laurel and Manu were going to be spending a good deal of money on this thing it made no sense to rent one of the nicest suites in vegas, provide tons of food, entertainment and what not for a handful of people.

Whatever reasons people had for cancelling out - that's their business, so cut the crap Sparky.

That's the bottom line. "What if Lit threw a party and no one came?" The what is - is that Lit reschedules the party when people can come.

I think people want a REAL get together - want to meet as many people as possible. We'll make it happen, its just going to take a couple of extra months - and it will be bigger and better then we even thought this one would be.

Laurel, Manu and everyone else who was trying to put this thing together would have happily had it take place as scheduled. And it will take place - when we can really make it a LITEROTICA party. And I think we all owe Laurel and Manu some appreciation and support - they have gone out of their way both personally and financially to make this happen and they are going to do so again when we DO make it happen.

Sparky, you're way over the edge on this one. This isn't a matter of people being patriotic or not, of supporting America or not. Did you read what Dilly posted? In some cases, it seems backing out on Vegas had nothing to do with being afraid to fly. My guess is some just got cold feet at the thought of REALLY going. Some had schedule changes. Others may have been affected by the economy. Lots of lost jobs, or people afraid of losing theirs. Some probably ARE afraid to fly, or afraid of anthrax, or whatever. It hasn't even been two weeks yet since the attack! We aren't all marines. Give people a chance to finish mourning and get back to whatever "normal" will be for their lives in the future. Less than two weeks isn't necessarily long enough, in my opinion.

Well, its nice that even jobless, you would have the finachial security. Not everyone does.

Some people live check to check. Some people live having to recieve help to supplement those checks. Not everyone has a savings. Not everyone can get money together.
