I use Firefox for my browser and this is primarily a private computer but I'm curious if there is a way to Hide or Password Encrypt folders I've created in my Bookmark Toolbar; just as an added privacy measure for the off chance the kids or someone else needs to borrow my computer - my wife is aware and is fine with my kinks, or at least is tolerable... just thinking of others.

Thanks,
Steve

Set up different User accounts at the OS level. The browser instances will differ. The bookmarks when you logon as Steve will not carry over when someone logs on as Guest or whatever.

Good advice, and exactly what I'd do. :)

Couldn't you also bury the adult links among other more normal links, and change the names to something boring that nobody would ever want to click on?

One way to do this is to create a separate bookmark file on a removable medium like a flash drive or a CD. In this file, you keep the links that you want to keep secret. If you want to add bookmarks, you can do it using any HTML or text editor. Just remember to remove the medium when you loan out the computer!

I use a Mac now, but back when I had a Windows computer and was concerned about financial information on my computer being hacked, I used a program called "Folder Lock" (I think) which created a separate section of a disk or hard drive which is invisible to Windows Explorer but can be accessed by opening the program and typing a password. The file with your bookmarks could be stored there. (I still worry about financial information being hacked, but now all of it is on a separate flash drive, not on the computer itself.)
