Well, Anna has made me realise that I need to go back to the drawing board, for the introduction if nothing else. I think it might take me a short while to get that to a stage where we'll be happy...

Well - I've (hopefully) finished the first chapter now. I've mixed the first two chapters up a bit - (the first chapter I did before was just an introduction, without much in the way of sex etc. and I wasn't that great, so I've taken some of the sex from second part and started with that instead

Is it common to have dreams about your stories? I know I dreamt about it last night before sleep AND again this morning - (very nice dreams too ). I still feel my language isn't direct enough for these kinds of stories - but I can't seem to write, (i.e. think) in any other way.

I'm sure my story is making me feel hornier than usual - it just doesn't seem to get reflected in my style of writing...

Dreaming of stories: Yes, yes it is. So I'm told. The most popular theory is that your dreams (however weird) represent your day to day experiences or thoughts being 'set in order'. (I don't subscribe)

Just because you're writing an erotic story doesn't mean that every page has to have sex. Quite a few authors here tend towards emotional or situational erotica whereas others (Boxlicker, me when I first started) write what is called stroke. Neither is 'good' or 'bad', 'better' or 'worse' just different.

What everyone here agrees (I think) is that our stories are readable.

If your story writing is like your post writing then you will probably discover a great many readers that are willing to put their liking into words, tacking them onto the end of your story in the comments (if you turn that service on when you submit)

I've received several comments about 'proper usage' and 'correct form'.

I think I know what you mean about directness of language. I've tried quite a few times to write more directly but just can't do it simply because the wealth of words available makes direct writing seem stingy to me. (and being Yorkshire I know stingy] (see my stories in link below for examples)

And I admire those writers that can use economy effectively.

As for feeling horny; what do you expect when you're thinking about sex and erotic situations all day? (that's an inkling about what it's like to be in a bloke's head. Torment)

The basis for the novel I'm currently working on came from a very vivid dream I had a few months ago. I rarely remember my dreams, so I figure when I do they must be trying to tell me something important. It's even more strange when you not only remember them, but then finish the dream sequence the next day.

Every writer has their own distinct style. As long as the message you are displaying is coherent, their will be an audience for it. If you overanalyze it too much, you'll lose what is inherently individual about you as an author.

I know - I don't really want every chapter to have nothing but sex in it - the first three/four chapters will, but only because I need to get the main relationships registered with the reader - then we can have some fun, and settle down a bit and let the story grow a bit more too

To be honest, I'll probably have to try hard to get the right balance between all the swordsmanship stuff and everything else too - my mum kinda went the extra mile in helping me out with that, lol.

I don't think I know how to write stingily. (P.s. one of my ex-girlfriends was from Leeds - took three hours on the train and coach just there, lol. If it had worked out, I might have moved there, but it didn't...).

Hmm, I guess I'll have to try and learn from it then. (Not that I really care what bloke's think about). I think I quite like being horny a lot of the time - though I'm not sure if I really want to turn into a nympho
