I am normally not on this thread... but I just wanted to ask, has anyone ever pushed for True Stories in the Story area? Like Penthouse Letters?
I would love to read more real life stories then just fantasy.

Just a suggestion.

There are true stories on Lit already. I even have a couple of true ones (no, I won't tell you which ones).

I've never understood the whole deal though....I could just tell you my stories are true - you'd have no way of knowing, right?

All my stories here are true.

There.

That's a bloody good point.

This is true. And yes I have read a few stories that I have been told are true.. And you are right. Was just saying it would be nice to have a True Story area. Just a suggestion...

Even if they did, would you have any way of knowing if they were or not? How could it be verified that they're true?

And, one last question....do you really honestly think that all those Penthouse Letters are true??????

(and I can't resist the snarky comment that I'm damn glad there's not a "Penthouse Letters" section here - those folks' writing skills are heinous ;) )

I was once complemented on my writing, and told that one day I would be good enough to write penthouse letters. Still, it was well intentioned.

When I write a true life story, it will have a strong masturbation emphasis

I always thought most of them were. But some of them defy belief. The one with the man who let his wife make him utterly dependent on her financially by transferring all of his paychecks to her? That defies credulity.

Just like here, how would they verify if one is true or not?

I've read some, but my inner editor got nauseous after just a couple, and I had to stop.

Ah, yes, the old Russian proverb that President Ronald Reagan liked so much, dovorey no povorey, "Trust, but verify." ;)

I love being a pedantic arsehole. :D Even if it ruins some otherwise sexy stories.

Basically, Penthouse Letters is fake. It's a collection of clever stories made to sound real. I've owned an issue a time or two, and in different sections you'll see things like "if you have a tale of ___(fill in the blank)___ write to us and submit it".

At any rate, Eat Your Fill (link in my sig to my stories) came from a real experience I had at an adult bookstore years ago.

Hon, I was only making a comment. No there is no way of knowing if it was true or not. Didn't know that my little comment or suggest was going to get your panties all in a wad. Cool hon... just cool.

So, if I wrote about my ex, they wouldn't publish it?

I'm not angry, no worries.

(and please don't use "panties in a wad." It's insulting as shit, not to mention patronizing.)

Hey, I don't see how she is deserving of such a comment. She's nice. Just that a lot of us are pedantic. Not always a bad thing.

I just asked a simple innocent question. Didn't mean anything by it. Just a simple question and all I got was smartass answers and being talked down to. Sorry, but I am a nice guy, and I really didn't deserve that either. Believe me, this will be the last place I come back to on Lit.

Hey, monsieur, I wasn't trying to be mean, oui? Just trying to respond to what I thought was being viciousness toward Cloudy. We like her. :D

I figured out the problem - he's a Playground poster. Everything over there is Care Bears and flowers. Bless it.

I'll take your word on it. Never been there myself. ;) What's a Care Bear? Never mind. Must be a fad or something.

Hard to say. Depends if it's sexy enough and it falls into one of their themes. :) Even if you wrote it from a fiction standpoint and called your ex Betty-Sue they'd change her name yet again before publishing it.

They don't offer money (unless that's recently changed) but do offer a free issue. :)
