Yeahhh, but the world should value intelligence, i do, and so should everyone, the brain is a powerful tool, it got us from hunter/gatherers, to farmers, to builders, to inventors, it gave us the wheel, which led to a motorized horseless carriage? HOLY SHIT COMBUSTION INTO MOVEMENT? WHAT SORCERY IS THIS oh right, basic laws of physics, you see the power that lights your home, all due to mad men with bright ideas. Light bulb? Edison. The power to run it? Tesla. The Automobile? Ford. The flying machine (aka the plane)? Welll we can go as far back as da vinvi, but lets say the Wrights. Space Travel? A whole lot of nerd power, you name one appliance in your home and thank a nerd for thinking of it. without innovaters, without imagination, without brains, we would still be in the dark ages. So yeah, im proud to be a nerd, because Bill Gates, a nerd, is out there saving the world, and he made millions by giving you the home computer you are using to say being a nerd is a bad thing. Do you people have anything better to do than come on my thread and mock me? i really am a nice guy, but every few months a bump up my personal and some guy has to have an issue with it.

Nerd was a deragatory term, same with queer, nigger, jew, fag, and many others, but you see these groups accept these terms and embrace it, own it for themselves to show it holds no power over them. I am not saying nerd is nearly as bad as those, but it is still hurtful.

I call myself a nerd, not as a fashion statement or because it is hip and cool, i do it because I am damn proud of it, and it is a compliment to me, it holds no power over me as an insult

I am not insulting you, nor mocking you. Merely pointing out that just because you have a certain knowledge/interest on quantum physics, a few other things and can use big words it does not even by a long shot make you a nerd.
Nerds spend their days with their head in books, gaming until their eyes bleed and programming so that at a later date people can call themselevs hackers when all they are, are script kiddies - they don't leave the house apart for when food is involved and don't move from their system unless bowel movements force them or coffee is at an all time low. At least that is what my nerd friends do - unless they are another kind of breed and I am totally confused ... but I doubt it.

And on another note. Most of the things in my house, and most peoples house for that matter of fact, were invented by .. well yes, you guessed it; Inventors, which does not necesarily make them a nerd.

Now if you excuse me - I am still chuckling at how highly you speak of Bill Gates.
