:p

Yeah, that's right... I'm talkin' ta YOU!!!

Wha'd'ya mean by voting my stories down from the 'top-list' of the BDSM category! Huh? Sheesh!

I go and write an extremely heartfelt letter of appreciation, thanking you all for voting positively and favorably for my stories, "Amber, The Next Generation," "To My Kinky Friends," and "Nina, My Slave" and the next thing I know; somebody (or some nobodies) have voted the stories off the list, entirely!

Now, I'm NOT vain enough to really care who you are OR why you did it! But I AM rather curious as to what your problem is!

I wrote one of the stories for a friend who's been sick ("cancer") and she was wondering what happened to the story that I wrote for her!

Well, I just hope that you feel as little as you should feel, right now, you jerks!!!

Sincerely,
-BB(The UNhappy Comic)

I'm not trying to be very offensive here, though I don't how this question can be anything but... My ego is probably bigger than yours and no, bigger egos aren't good things. How do you know it was shot down intentionally?

Not having read it I cannot offer an opinion on its quality but did you ever think the high score was equally influenced by bias as the low score? Do you really think people are out to get your story? Sounds it.

Ouch, shot down.

What is considered being shot down intentionally? Is it receiving a ton of "1" scores (which it appears happens)? If you think about it, people can intentionally shoot down a story with a bunch of "3" votes also. All depended on how many votes they've received. If their total votes is relatively low, say under 50, it doesn't take alot of "3" votes to push them off the top lists. But if they have alot of votes, say over 300 or more votes, then it would take a butt load of "1" votes to move them off the lists entirely.

Either way... it's pretty obvious that the voting system needs some work. Just watch the top lists and this becomes very apparent. But after thinking about this for a bit, I came to the conclusion that it doesn't make much sense for some third party to be this malicious. I came to the conclusion that it has to be other writers that give out "1" votes. Why? To push their own stories higher.

I think it's quite apparent that you can not have people who have a vested interest in the outcome of a vote be involved in the vote. For example, if you take 5 people with stories. You have them read everyone else's story and then vote on it, as well as vote on their own story. All five people will give their own story a "5" and everyone elses a "1" (or maybe a "4" depending on their consicious (sp?)). Either way, they are involved in the contest and want to win so obviously they are going to vote their story higher and everyone elses lower.

There has to be another way...

just my two cents....

OK...so i am still new on this whole system, but i don't understand why anyone would want to vote down a quality story even if they are posted to.

I have a story on this site, but still vote truthfully when i read someone elses work. To me this site is to help us improve our craft, and entertain the public. Don't we all write because we enjoy it, not because we want to win the $100 prize?

I humbly apologize. Apparently you were shot down. The scores have been restored thanks to Laurel's keen eye. I got shot down in the BDSM lists myself, but I had thought it was deserved. Imagine my shock when I checked my scores, had less votes and a bigger number.

Who know why anyone votes other people down. To make themselves or their favorite authors have a better shot? There's nothing quite so satisfying as being considered the best of the best, I imagine. The monthly prizes, perhaps? Maybe it's done by people who know us authors on the boards specifically. You can't ever tell why people commit voter fraud, they just do.
