When I tell you that you're a good person and I've never lied to you before and someone else who has says that you're not a good person, who are you going to believe?

When you have my friendship and the friendship of others and someone else is tossing yours away, whose opinion is worth keeping?

You can not define your life or even your daily mood on what one person who has a history of toying with your emotions says to you on any given day. You can not take the word of one unreliable person over the word of may reliable people, no matter how you may have felt about that one person. You can not let your esteem rise and fall on such unstable foundations. You can not.

Listen to me. Listen well. Hear this. You are strong. You are smart. You are good. Y ou have made bad decisions but you are not bad for having made them. You are not perfect, but you are good, and that's more than enough.

Remember that.

While I know it's not to me and that your words are perfectly logical, the heart and psyche don't always adhere to such sensical rules. For some reason, much like the daily news, it's easy to see only the negative in life. These things stick out and manage to cast a shadow over all of the rest.

In addition, it can be very easy to falsely dismiss positive remarks as being empty words. I should hope that the object of your words understands their sincerity and their worth above the negative.
