I'm not really an author, a writer, like so many here. My stuff is almost always autobiographical, almost exhibitionistic some have observed. So it was with the genesis of this story, a firsthand look at the edgy BDSM practice of eroticised permanent piercing, Dominant of submissive. The story is true as it happened, though Muff, as my editor, made me toss in some soft and lovely dialogue so people would read it. We didn't really talk exactly like that when it was occuring, though the emotions running between us were well-matched to the words i added at Muff's insistence.

I am prejudiced: rarely do i believe or enjoy BDSM stories done by nilla folks.

Perhaps i'm intolerant in this matter but i feel most who are not of this lifestyle miss the incredible depth of emotion and devotion and trust and honesty that permeates our good relationships (just as those attributes permeate the good relationships of all emotionally-bound people). All too often, such outsiders concentrate on the whips and chains aspects of the BDSM stories they write. In the doing, they offer nothing but more confusion to a general societal understanding of BDSM'ers as normal, ordinary, tax-paying citizen who happen to "do" their sexuality a little differently.

But Muff understands.
Muff has spent the last year doing a really in-depth anaylsis of who we are as individuals, what makes us hurt (and it's not the whips and chains that does it, guys), what makes us secure, and who we are inside our primary love relationships.

She's done a really marvelous job with this story of illustrating sympathetically some of the often hideously complex needs and emotions that overtake us, the confusions that drive us crazy when we try to live within the larger non-BDSM-tolerant society.

Muff understands.

This is a marvelous story.




Addendum: My story Pierced has been viewed 3041 times but only has 121 votes. I think that must be about normal, the one vote per 16 or 17 read-throughs. However, everyone who writes stories would just love to have a few more votes than they've got.

What's the difference between erotica and pornography?

My most read submission tops out at about 7000 post and only has 75 votes. If you've got 3000 reads and 120 votes, I'd say your doing damn good on the voting side, cym.

After I posted I re-read and looked at Cymbidia's comments about readers and voting. My two favorite stories have a lot of people looking at them, but the voting is less than 5% of those who do look/read.

I guess I should not complain since I do have voters, but I really love to see/hear feedback. If people vote it kind of validates me...that I did well enough with my struggles to put words to paper or bytes to hard drive, that I gave enough to them to get them to say something, even if it just was by voting.

People, writers do need some validation, so vote...we may not be Steinbeck or Hemingway or Anais Nin, but we do go through the same things they did. And for a helluva lot less money or acclaim.

Oh, and take a starving author to lunch this week.

Jazzy Girl Ch. 1 by Dixon Carter Lee.

The prose is the thing here: it is breezy and funny, with a wonderful rhythm and flow, vivid descriptions, and wonderfully drawn characters. Oh, and the sex is pulse-pounding and seductive.

As far as the shameless plug goes, my darling Ginny already mentioned my first story (The Games We Play Ch. 1 ), but I thought I'd say a few words about its genesis.
