Look at this swell hotel I'm being put up at next week: Warwick, Philadelphia. I went on line to check it out, expecting that they'd be putting me up in some chain hotel, and whoa! I'm gettin' the five start treatment. Woo-hoo. Anyone want to join me there Monday night? I'll be throwing water balloons off the roof.

You became important when your ego climbed up your nose and told your brain that it was blue light special time at K-Mart.

Oh, come one, how am I supposed to answer that one?

LOL I can't tell if you're mixing metaphors or alcohol with that one.

Pfffft. Both. It's called Guntrum, I think. It makes me want to smack my lips.

Yep, that's what it is. I checked. Bite me, K-Mart boy.

Well, Dix, I can see only one explanation, . . .

you had lunch with Laurel and Manu. What else could elevate one's status to such importance?

okay.... I've seen Laurel and Manu mentioned in several threads, and, although I fully gather that this is an in-joke among regulars, a litmus test to separate them from the clueless newbies [tm], I'm all about the bull in the china store thingy... so.... without further ado:

Who are/were Laurel and Manu, and why are they significant?

From my very limited knowledge, :D , I've gathered that they run this neat site, and they are therefore, the best webmistress and master of the net.

Manu makes few appearances, Laurel makes frequent appearances.

Hey, I live in Philadelphia.

If you see this face (<--------) please aim elsewhere.

Thank you.

Come up to San Francisco sometime, big boy.
We can find better things to do with stretchy rubber things then fill them with water and throw them off the roof.

Absolutely correct.

They are the creativity that produced this site, the energy that perpetuates it and the many improvements and the financing that pays the bills to keep it on-line.

Besides that, they are a couple of people I'm proud to have had the pleasure of meeting.

It's like the movie "The Wizard of Oz"

Manu is the wizard behind the curtain, he controls things behind the scenes.

Laurel is like Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. Or is she like the Wicked Witch of the West, who thinks monkeys fly out of her butt?

Laurel can be hard to peg at times.:p

Please forgive the dog allusion, Laruel, but i think you're like Toto.
No, not that gdoawful singing group, may they rest in peace, the dog in the Wizard of Oz.

Toto really ran everything in that movie.
You thought it was just a little dog, harmless and nonthreatening and needing to be carried everywhere, but really it was running them all around.

It pulled the curtain back on the Wizard behind the curtain. It caused Dorothy to get stuck in the house as it flew up in the air.
It menaced the Lion and caused Dorothy to come to its aid, thereby revealing the Lion's Cowardly side.
It saved Dorothy form the Wicked Witch of the East.

Toto ran that movie.
Nothing got past Toto.
Nothing happened without Toto's ginger in the pie, so to speak.

So it is with Laurel.
She's Lits' very own Toto.

But Manu is definitely the man behind the curtain.

"I'll get you my pretties...

And your little dog too"

So that's why.

The wicked witch knew which way the wind was blowing.

Back to the thread topic, just enjoy it while it lasts DCL. If they're putting you up in such a neat place, let them.

"What time would you like thwe bed turned down Mr. Lee?"

Damn... nice. Very nice. Wonder if they are part owners in the place.

Hey, I like Toto! You know that "Rain in Africa" song, or something like that. I think I was 7 when that came out. So pffft!

WalMart sucks. It's the largest growing corporation, and yet 75% of its employees qualify for food stamps. Doesn't that tell you something? I think its got slave labor written all over it, and I'm out to boycott it, now that I'm more or less sober again.

If Blushing Rose gets the mint, I want the soap and shampoo.

DCL don't get all jazzed up, read it again. It said Motel 6, just eighty blocks from beautiful downtown Pilly and the prestigious Warwick Hotel.

Don't be upset, you can still throw water balloons at the hookers from your first floor doorway.

I knew it was too cool to be true. LOL

I just wish I could spend more time there. All I know of Philly are the concert halls and sports arenas, and that museum I went to in 8th grade with the big Ben Franklin statue. I played a couple of colleges there, but that's pretty much jump off a train, do your gig, and go home. I wish I had time to do the sights. Ah well.

At least the toilet will be santized for my proteciton.
