I was in college.

Now, it was already a horrible moment for me, as I was a Resident Assistant (working in Dorms to work my way through school.)

My supervisor had jsut told me that he didnt' like me and that in all fairness to me, I would be getting a new supervisor. He felt that he was right in thinking I wasn't doing the job I needed to, but that he was overruled by his superiors. At 20 years old, the first time anyone ever questioned my judgement was very painful.

(I have gotten used to it since.)

Then, the television showed the challenger blowing up. It seemed as though time stopped and all were simply amazed, shocked, hurt and for me, I thought briefly that it wasn't real.

Good thread.

We cannot forget our tragedies as they are part of what makes our nation what it is.

Good, bad or indifferent in other's perspective.

You find this thread better than my other threads where I put in some effort?

You are weird or being cynical.

I was with my teacher who was one of the 6 finalists to be on the shuttle.

Nothing funny here.

Bad thread.

I was in Orlando watching it go up and I don't think it was funny one single bit (I am in agreement with storm and Marxist). Quite tragic and sad............

I was in 8th grade in history class and we were all goofing off thinking that we would just get to sit in the dark and pass notes...then my teacher who had been pestering us to be quiet just stopped and it was an echoing silence from him and we all looked at him and then the screen and there was just silence...I think we all grew up just a little bit that day.

I was working. My boss was on the phone with someone who had a TV on. I just remember him looking shocked.

Home sick from school, I think 8th grade. Later when I went to college and started studying astronomy and meeting astronauts and other nasa people, how smart and talented and dedicated they are, it hit me harder than when it happened. i remember standing in front of the crew photo a couple of years ago, looking at their faces and tears started rolling down my cheeks. OK I don't want to talk about this anymore.
