Hey, poets!

Write poems about London Bombings, here!
Seriously? Or are you being facetious? I'm sure it will inspire some poetry, eventually. But I think right now it's just sinking in.

I can only echo that eve, right now we are still trying to contact friends and family to make sure they are safe, a little respect would be appreciated.

:rose:

We're thinking of you and hoping for the best.

.....sorry to hear this happened.

I'm watching CNN now. I didn't know anything had happened until I saw C.V.'s thread. We are at orange alert here in the US. I'm glad to be in a small town. Yes. I do feel some sense of security in a small town. Foolish? I don't know.

Small towns are probably a less likely target and safer as a result.

Nothing foolish about wanting to be safe.

Yes I agree, it's just so horrific and frightening we all want to feel and be safe and there's no shame in that.

I hope everyone is safe and well :rose:

Jennifer? Why are you so thin skinned? CV didn't mean any disrespect. Rather, he opened up a thread for others (and maybe himself) to voice their feelings! How long have you been here? Have you posted here under another name? I think it would be nice if you took the time to read the hundreds of threads already here and learn about the place. Granted, what you have done with your New Poets thread is wonderful, but it's not the first. Or the last. What CV did here is not the 1st time a thread like his has been opened, neither is it the last. Just chill out and relax and get to know folks. That way you'll know when you're being attacked or insulted, or treated with disrespect. And then you can effectively do something about it.

Peace. :rose:

Jesus what was that about? and you want me to take a chill pill? I just thought it was a little soon to be writing poetry when people are still dying I meant no disrespect and didn't take any, if that is how you read it then fine but I know what i meant, maybe you shoudn't be so quick to jump down my throat when you have misinterpreted what I have written!

oh and perhaps you could be a little more understanding seeing as there has just been bombs dropped on my country, I maybe a little emotional right now but I will not apologise for feeling upset!

I do not wish to start an argument, just express my opinion

Honey, I didn't jump down your throat. I was nice. If you knew me you would know that. It is never too soon to write poetry; poetry thrives on emotion. You should be careful how you word things, maybe. "a little respect would be appreciated" certainly sounded like a sarcastic remark to me, and I'm pretty sure thats how you intended it to sound. Like I said; get to know the folks here a little bit better. I'm not a mean person, and in fact I did write a poem when I first heard the news. But out of respect I didn't post it here. My little town is not the whole world. I realize now that CV is a total asshole. Go here and see why. But that doesn't change the fact that your post caught my eye. It's all semantics, honey. Thats why we have to be soooo particular about our words.

See? There you go again! Who said, or even implied that I am not sympathetic? And I would never ask for an apology.

Fair enough boo but don't talk about me getting to know people before replying to their posts when you have jumped in and replied to mine without knowing me, perhaps you should get to know me better before you proceed to tell me what I meant.

I am not a mean person either simply someone with strong opinions and that can be said for most of the people who post here!

Live and let live honey!

The name of this thread is Hey, Poets! I assume that means me, huh? You posted your opinion; I posted mine. I already know you. If you want a personal rant thread, start one. We've all done it at one time or another. I even made a Padded Room, but Evie was the only one nervy enough to take advantage of it.

I will live and let live, hon. But I will continue to voice my opinions. Theres a button here somewhere where you can put someone on ignore. Try it if I offend you. No skin off my back.

again, Peace! :rose:

End of discussion.

It has not yet sunk in for me yet. Damn we are in a fucked up time. My thoughts are with our British friends...

Eve, there is a sense of security in small towns, sometimes foolish, my little town where I grew up there were so many sick scary things that happened!

I went to school in DC and the movie theater had the bomb radius, we felt lucky we were in the "instant death" category instead of the radiation sickness.

And truthfully, in Baltimore is not the safest place to be with or without terrorism. I just try not to think too much about it beyond not being stupid (which can be quite a challenge:) ) Admitedly, when the sniper was out and about this area last year, I was quite jittery.

but I still took the kids trick or treating. can't let it stop your life.

okay okay i am babbling when I wanted to say

Jennifer and Tess and all the others I do not know are there.... find your loved ones and hang in there.... you are not alone.

Thanks so much anna, :rose: I'm safe in Canada but most of my family is still in England, one or two in London. We have tried calling but the lines - including a "hot line" set up by out govt - are jammed.

You are in Canada? Oh my, I feel dumb are you usually in England? I know you were..... Wait hmmm.... I seem to remember an AV and a cake... I am so lame I can never keep up.

Matriarch and Gauchecritic... gotta check in on them.

I hope you get through soon, I know the frantic feeling of making sure everyone is okay, and then when they ARE just holding onto them even over the phone...
it just feels right.

Can you get through email?

You are welcome Jennifer, there is another wound in the body of the earth today, we all have to work to heal it. Do some Yoga, invite your neighbors :)

:hugs:

Jennifer
