Bush's options are fast running out.

Today's news in the UK is that the Cabinet has found a voice, Robin Cook, to oppose the UK backing of America's actions. For weeks now Blair has been fobbing his Cabinet colleagues off with the statement that any discussion between the UK and the US is still a long way off. So Bush cannot be 100% certain of his strongest ally's support.

Saudi Arabia has refused the use of it's country as a base for operations.

Massoud Barzani, the most powerful Kurdish war lord in Northern Iraq has refused to join in talks with other Iraqi oppositions groups.

And so on and so on...

Splits in Bush's own cabinet don't give a lot of credibility to the idea of an invasion and the propaganda war is definitely being won by Saddam.

Which all leads to Bush toning down his war rhetoric.

I reckon he's already blinked...
