So It has been decided that the family will be spending Christmas in Europe. We are going to do England for 4 days and Paris for 3. Two questions;

I have a friend with a nice house (the house is a vacation place, so it would be empty) in Norwich, were we can stay for free. I have never been, is it a cool town? Is the two hour train ride to London ok? Is the train clean? Should I just rent a car? Or we can stay in London at the Hyatt Churchill. I have so many points that this would be free as well. So what do you suggest?

Secondly, we are deciding if we should do London or Paris first. The first leg of the trip would include Christmas day. Any must see events in either city on Christmas day?

I can't even imagine the horror of Christmas dinner in England. Turnips, Black Pudding, Spotted Dick and warm beer...

Christmas dinner has always been a big deal and I always cook it. I figure with the house that would be easier. I guess the question is can you buy 7 bone standing rib roast in England? Do they have meat grades like the USA? Does the bottom grade include mad cow?

might

might be hard to get the best meat that time before Christmas, better off having a meal out plenty of good restaurants but you will need to book well in advance

ha! i'm pretty damn close to norwich and, as cities go, it's pretty damn good. you interested in history & architecture?
the kidlet will love the castle! it looks like something from a story book.

Architecture, old cathedrals, castles, hookers.... ok, maybe not hookers.

So is the train to London ok? What say ye? London or Norwich?

i hate london, so i'm biased.
i always get the coach direct from airport to central norwich, which usually has no changes and is a bit more relaxing than the train. takes about 3-4 hours.

I don't know Norwich, but I know London, and I would never pass up a chance to stay there. Great walking, sights, pubs, you name it. I'm a Yank, btw.

London over Norwich, Paris over London.
English trains range from just about adequate to absolutely awful.

Fuck Paris.

I hate those fucking people though I will fuck their women.

I love London and there are many fantastic places to eat. It all depends on how much cash you are willing to spend and how fancy you want it.

My favorite hotel in London is The Dorchester which has several restaurants within. China Tang being one of my favorite restaurants in London.

French women are a lot better than Italian women. Braided armpit hair doesn't do it for me.

If you wear that I hope you enjoy hospital food.

Ha! Giving how bad English food is to start with I can not imagine what their hospital food taste likes.

But also considering what pussies they are in general, I would not be too worried.

There's more bad food in the US than the UK these days. There are scads of brilliant restaurants there, and a lot of good pub grub. IMO.

Unless you like Applebys, Olive Garden, and TGIF. In that case, never mind:rolleyes:

What the frigate is scads, and why would anyone want to eat it?

Norwich is good, lots of historic interest. Even though you're a heathen go to the midnight service at either Norwich Cathedral or St Peter Mancroft on Christmas Eve. Even if you don't like religion the music is brilliant.

You won't get that rib roast. You would do better to settle for a couple of geese or a turkey, though a nice and easy alternative would be pheasant - one per person and cook 'em breast side down.

If Norwich are at home you could go to a soccer match on Boxing day (26th) and enjoy being a hooligan.

Paris is full of Parisians and London of Poles - take yer pick!:)
