Just a basic, feeling out the situation message, here. I discovered Chyoo and posted a couple threads a week or so ago before I went on vacation. I like the concept and all, so I'm kinda trying to figure things out.

Like how there seem to be no new stories added since the end of last year. I actually started a story before I left, and it's still in approval pending status. And now I notice that the editor can add more threads to a story pre-approval. Which I'm cool to do, but not if it'll never see the light of day because no one's approving new stories anymore. So yeah.

Also, for the threads I added, I get the feeling I kinda chose dead stories, since it doesn't look like they've been updated since I left (at least, none of my threads have "children" that I didn't create). Basically, I just used the search engine to find things that appealed to me conceptually, but is writing on stories no one's interested in anymore a futile gesture? Should I be posting in and/or reading the author's forum to see where the wind's blowing?

Someone apparently liked my threads, judging by the ratings I've been getting, so help a dude out, here.

Hello Jack, and welcome.

Here's a little that you should know about CHYOO as you join our little community of one-handed typists:

1) While those of us who are here have a good deal of enthusiasm about CHYOO, there are many who have gone and left their stories unattended. You can submit to those stories until your fingers fall off from the typing and you won't get any response. The best way to determine whether an editor is still around is to send a message and ask (or, see if they've posted here recently). Don't go by the last time the story was updated - that just shows when someone contributed last, not when a thread was approved last.

2) The CHYOO webmasters are completely invisible and never respond to E-mails or post on this board. We are only half-convinced they exist at all. New stories are approved by them when they feel like it. Sometimes it takes days, sometimes weeks, sometimes over a month. There is absolutely nothing you or anyone else can do about it.

3) CHYOO is in a degree of very gradual updating which began around July of last year and slowly continues. New features were activated just last month, so we know they're still on it, but (once again) the webmasters never talk to us so we have no idea how things are progressing.

4) I once composed a list of tips for CHYOO users. You can find it here.

Hope to see your story approved soon!

Cheers,

Hello and Welcome!

Hey there,
I just wanted to say Hi to JackB. I was wondering what your nickname on Chyoo is. I think I might have given you some good feedback... if you're who I think you are. What stories have you submitted to? I am an active writer and editor at Chyoo. You can find my stories at the bottom of this post. If you care to read them that would be great. Welcome to CHyoo and I hope you enjoy the experience.

Also, if you haven't read Gystex's list, I recomend it. He has a lot of dedication to the site.
