Okay, I know that was for JM, but I simply have to extend my sympathies.

My oil burner caught fire yesterday, and my house was full of smoke. It still smells like burnt diesel in here.

Yeah, so no heat for awhile and I have a small child. Today the problem is solved, but I totally feel your pain.

I s'pose. I have carbon monoxide detectors, but I could tell by that floaty feeling in my head that my useable oxygen to CO2 ratio was in Dioxides favor yesterday.

Well two of my children have fur, and they were climbing the pipes in the basement when all of this was going on - didn't seem to be phased by it at all.

The one human child was safely bundled up and cooking with her play kitchen.

When do you suppose you'll have heat again?

on the other hand....my open fire is blazing merrily and there is a handy beanie cushion just wating to be dragged up to it.....

The worst part of it is that the landlords are not dicks, they're really cool, so I almost hated to have to break it to them. It was put in before they bought it and it's just kind of bottom of the line. They don't do bottom of the line on the things they've had to replace.

EEK! Sorry to hear that! You can come to my house and bring the furkids too. It's currently 1c here, feels like -5c. The high for tomorrow is supposed to be -7c.

You know, that's one thing I like about living in the desert - it was really cold today . . . I think the high was 69.




Netz, hope you get that fixed quick. It is no fun to be without heat. Several years ago we lived in the mountains. It was early spring and I let the propane run low since winter was ending. We got 8" of snow overnight. The chimney of the pellet stove started leaking into the hopper and no one could come out and fix it for another 2 weeks. Needless to say, I ended up paying the $100 emergency charge to have the propane guys come out and fill my tank on a Sunday! No, I don't miss the mountains at all in winter!
