There are plenty of not-boring people here. And abusive humor is not entertaining, especialy to the people who are getting the abuse.

And I don't come here to be on American Idol.

jbj, I think, tends to talk to imaginary versions of everyone. He imagines the things they might say, and he responds to that-- and whatever they say is the worst case version of whatever they might have said. So he always notches his responses up a hundredfold, before the fact.

I don't know if that's very entertaining, personally. To me it feels abusive, because once he's screamed at your unbelievable stupidity, what is there to say? You sure don't have much reason to stick to the issue at that point.

Which is why you'll find thread after thread in which jbj has posted five, six posts per page saying god knows what-- because I sure don't want to read them--- while the actual conversation goes on without him.

I think being entertained by watching jbj abuse people is insensitive, priveleged behavior. I think that about American Idol, as well, actually.

I never said I was entertained by random un-called for abuse. I am, however, entertained by the steady stream of masochists who continue to engage him in pointless arguments over the rhetoric he spews and those who take everything so fucking seriously. You know, even right now we're doing it. Right here, in this very thread. James doesn't even have to make an effort in this thread, we're doing all the hard work for him. He's just sitting back and watching. And that fascinates me. Don't you ever just want to start some serious shit, Stella? I'm not going to apologize for taking pleasure in the misfortune of those who repeatedly stick their heads in the lion's mouth. Some people like a good car wreck. They're just built that way. I've been called worse things than 'insensitive' and 'priveleged' and those things were probably also true.

I guess, there's an issue of tacit agreement; when a fuckwad exhibits fuckwaddery without any opposition, I start feeling like I could be a fuckwad in agreement with him. So every once in a while my conscience prods me in that direction.

Te99, he is not a monkey in the zoo. Monkeys have tribe, custom, and culture of a sort-- even the ones in the zoo, who also have captivity to deal with.

Yeah, lots of posters here have their myopias and personal bigotries, lots of people indulge in paranoia and cherry-pick insults out of otherwise mild comments.

You and I are among them. I got no problem with that, on the whole-- in parts, hell yes of course!

But there are only a few posters who make malice their complete oeuvre. And sing and dance in glee about it.


And when someone says that making a remark about that malice is a stupid thing to do-- I think of the syndrome whereby an abused person convinces themself that they are wrong to think their abuser is being malicious. That somehow it's all their fault that they are hurt.
