Why didn't anyone ever tell me that making egg drop soup was so easy? It is one of my favorites from a local chinese restaurant. I found a recipe on the internet and made it myself tonight. Hmmmmmm... it was GOOD! And I really DON'T usually cook, so I had no idea if it was going to be edible or not. LOL

Egg Drop Soup

5 cups water
5 chicken bouillon cubes
1 tablespoon soy sauce
a few chopped green onions (I used chives instead)
2 eggs, lightly beaten

Combine first 4 ingredients in a large saucepan, bring to a boil.
Slowly pour eggs into the boiling broth. Cook for 1 minute. Serve immediately.

And the whole batch has only about 200 calories in it!

Sounds yummy.........but......

:p

what's for the second course?

If chinese food makes ya hungry one hour later........

does chinese soup make ya hungry 15 minutes later?

I have to share this...

I used to work at a Chinese restaurant, and I once had the owner's wife, tell me that everytime she ate American food she was always hungry an hour later. She was dead serious. She didn't believe me when I told her that everyone says that about Chinese food. LOL

BTW, your soup sounds delicious Cheyenne. I like Egg drop, but Hot and Sour is my favorite.

No room for a second course- too much soup! And nope, I'm still full! :)

(Besides, I only had the one recipe to try tonight. )

I have to say, I like it just as much as the soup from my favorite restaurant. Now when I get a craving for egg drop soup, I'll be able to have it in about 10 minutes. :)

I like Hot and Sour, too. Maybe I'll have to do more internet recipe hunting!

I ate so much Hot and Sour soup when I worked at the restaurant, that it was a while after I quit before I wanted it again.

The very best stuff to eat there though, was whatever the cooks made for themselves for dinner. I had some amazing ginger chicken that I wouldn't mind having the recipe for, and some kind of soup with these dumplings made out of rice flour. Yummy.

Great, now I am craving Chinese food. Guess what I'll be eating for dinner tomorrow!
