When you check the status of a story does that add to the views? I know there's a somewhat confusing answer in the FAQ section, but I was looking for a bit of clarification.
There's a thread at the top of this forum to announce Lit. authors' published works. We'd like to see a cover image if you have one too.
The "view" numbers you see mounting while the story is in pending appear to be a system's glitch. No, opening your submissions page won't increase the views (I'd done that and the views haven't gone up). And, no, I don't think the lone editor is opening your story that many times while it's in pending. It's just a computer glitch that the website hasn't explained, although people frequently ask what's going on. You are not alone in wondering.
At the same time, that thread is intended for authors who also have stories posted on Lit. I don't know how fussy Laurel is about others advertising their work there, but I did read a post where she had deleted the comment and her reason was what I just said.![]()
