Heroes
Logan pulled his blanket over his head as his alarm sounded. It was 6:30, and time to get up for school. He loved learning, but had gotten used to sleeping in over the summer. Here it was, a week after his eighteenth birthday, and his senior year was about to start. The placement of his birthday had put him a year behind, and although he was perfectly capable of graduating early, he chose to remain in the same grade as his friends, except, that is, for science class. He was taking Advanced Applied Sciences this year.
Finally, Logan hit his alarm to turn it off and dragged himself out of bed. His room was fairly large, with a queen size bed, endtables, large closet, dresser, and mirror. On top of his dresser was a large LCD TV, which was hooked up to their dish, although he rarely did anything but sleep in his room. He walked into his private bathroom, and looked at himself in the mirror. His brown shaggy hair was in a mess as always, and his blue-gray eyes looked tired and a tad bloodshot. His face was a bit scruffy, as he hadn't shaved in over a week. Across his forehead was a long scar, the result of a brutal beating he took back as a freshman. A group of wannabe gangsters felt Logan had made them look like fools in class when he corrected them on a science question, and so they jumped him after school and beat him to a bloody pulp. The scar was made from the leader of the gang kicking him in the head with a steel toed boot that scraped upwards.
He was wearing only a pair of white knit boxers, and a lion necklace that his mother had given him before she died. His arms and chest were fairly well-toned, a result of the physical training Logan commited to after his beatdown. Before the beating, he was doing miserably in Physical Ed, but after, he was getting perfect scores in that class as well.
After taking his Norelco to his face and then jumping in the shower, Logan dried off and brushed his teeth, then pulled on fresh boxers and a pair of baggy blue jeans, fastened with a black belt. He slipped on a white t-shirt, and a long sleeve denim shirt over that, leaving in unbuttoned and rolling the sleeves halfway up his forearms. He put on his watch, sprayed on some AXE deodorant and body spray, and sat down on the edge of his bed to pull on his socks. Grabbing his bookbag, he left his room, walked down the long hallway, and then down the stairs to the den. This was his favorite room -- it had a huge plasma tv, along with a PlayStation 2, X-Box, X-Box 360, Nintendo Wii, and his eighteenth birthday gift, a PlayStation 3. In front of the entertainment center were several black leather chairs and couches, and at the other end of the room were two desks, and atop each sat a super powerful Physics Processor Alienware Extreme Gaming Computer. He also had a Dell Laptop that he kept in his bookbag.
Logan walked into the kitchen and quickly made himself an onion bagel with cream cheese, scarfed it down, gulped a glass of orange juice, and headed for the entryway. Sitting down on the bench there after grabbing his shoes from the coat closet, he pulled them on and tied them. Knowing his father was already at work, Logan locked up, then headed to the garage, and drove off in his black firebird. Parking outside East Vector High School, Logan set his car alarm, threw his bag over one shoulder, made sure his blackberry was on vibrate, and headed into the school.
