Greg screamed as he fell to the floor, persperation streaming down his face. He slowly tried to raise his head but as he did he heard a voice come over the speakers.

"You did ask for this Mr Richards. You came to us did you not or do you think that you made the wrong choice?"

He raised his head to the window and looked at the people sitting there watching him. He knew why they were watching him, what they were looking for and it made him realize that he was nothing more than a lab rat to them but he knew that this was the only way that he would ever learn to master his power. He knew that Elliot would never have shown him how to master it and even if he did it would have taken so long that it would have been pointless then. A smile came to his face when he realized just how much he had learnt, how much he had pushed himself in the past five months. He had the control over his power that he had wanted when he had gone to that fool Elliot but it had come at a cost.

It was then that a flash of pain went through him when he thought of Lily, when he saw her face in his head. He knew that the way they had parted was not the best of ways but he knew that he could not stay in that place. He hated the fact that she had stayed with him, that she had wanted to stay with Elliot but it made him realize why she had. He shook his head and cleared her memory from it then looked down at the floor again and slammed his fist down onto it.

He looked back up at the window, at the people there.

"Again."

"But your body will not handle it."

"I do not care.... Again."

He walked slowly into the room and the next thing that was heard was the loud screaming.

Ah crud... what did I do now...

Lily tossed fitfully in sleep, or rather, trying to sleep. She gotten no rest for the past three days and Lucas had been driving them hard for all of four months now. The New Yorkers were having a hard time dealing with the fact that they were less than normal without him stepping up and taking the late Elliot's place as their so called leader.
So what if he had been the original one Elliot had touched? So what if he knew what he was talking about? All she cared about right at this moment was the fact the her bones ached and she hurt in places that she never even knew she had.

And then there were the dreams. Horrible, horrible dreams about the one man she had ever felt a connection with. The one fool that had decided to throw punch all over her one fateful night. The one that had melted away to nothing.

Greg.

Even his name felt like a dead weight in her mind. Though for some reason she felt lighter each time she heard it, or said it, or even thought it. Thinking about the man alone would heat up the night and cause heavily banked fires within her dreams to suddenly roar to life. Once, a dream of him had set the training room on fire.... the completely enclosed, fire proof, bullet proof, power proof training room on fire. But sometimes she would have a glimpse of him, something not even she could ever dream of doing to him. Torture, pure torture. Not only of his soul, but of his mind, his body. Twisted in agony, in pain.
She saw these images in her sleep... and were greatly disturbed by them, as if she somehow knew deep down inside that that was exactly what was happening to what could be the most precious man in her life. Greg.

The Invisible Man.

She tossed to her side once again, sobbing fresh tears as the night brought new images of horror to her. Then her eyes flew open as she heard the distant alarm over the speaker system.
Lucus's voice filled her small chambers, where she had chosen to live inside the training facility Elliot had built, "Lily, get your ass out of bed and help me! Damn bloody vines!!"
Lily sat bolt upright in her bed, her eyes wide with fear and anxiety, and just a little exasperation, "Ah crud... what did I do now?" she asked herself as she hurriedly applied her dressing gown to her form and slipped into her slippers.
From the sounds of it, Lucus was having trouble in the gardens. One of the few places in the facility that was built for aesthetism rather than practicality. She hurried by familiar looking endless hallways and worriedly cast a glance out of the nearby window. A full moon hung high in the clear night sky. Just great.

Lily's Elemtal Power reached its peak at the full moon.

"I'm so sorry Lucus," she whispered to herself as she padded her way to the Garden. Her pity and shame vanished as soon as she got through the doorway though.

She laughed instead.

Poor Lucus as strung up to the ceiling with vines as thick as his arms, one covered his mouth so that now only muffled sounds of outrage could be heard. His legs were held securely by his leafy prison and she could see how flowers were trying to tickle his nose.

She laughed so hard for a moment that she didnt see his eyes bulging from lack of air as the vines thickened and tightened around him. His muffles became more urgent and Lily finally realised the danger. She blinked and had to think for a moment before she finally pulled out lighter from within her gown. She kept one in every one of her garments, just incase she needed the aid of fire.
She certainly needed it now. She grimaced, lighting the flame and then concentrating on bending it to her will. Her hands caught on fire and then she raised them up to touch one of the vines close over her head, she hadn't quite mastered shooting the flames just yet. With a deep breath she pulled the fire along the vines that held Lucus and soon they were writhing in flames.

...And Lucus was falling to the ground.

She quickly took a breath of air and expelled it, concentrating on expanding the amount of breath and spreading it beneath Lucus's falling body, cushioning his fall somewhat. But, she had more mastery over Fire than Air at the moment and so Lucus thudded to the floor, falling the last foot through uncushioned air.
She heard him grunt in pain and quickly scrambled over to him, the sprinkling system finally kicking in and showering them both with blessed water. She didn't bother to keep themselves dry, she figured that getting wet now would be the least of her problems.

"I'm so sorry Lucus... please..." she whispered as she finally reached her fallen leader...

She wept constantly, like an Amazonian iteration of Tammy Faye. She walked through the multitudes with her arms outstretched, touching and being touched in turn. As she passed, the wailing and sobbing quieted. Her platinum blonde hair never strayed in front of her ice-cold blue eyes which never seemed to blink.

"There is no despair so absolute as that which comes with the first moments of our first great sorrow, when we have not yet known what it is to have suffered and be healed, to have despaired and have recovered hope. When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of Creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open, and love steps forth to heal everything in sight."

"...Back to our top story: noted faith healer, Veronica van der Waal's crusade continues just outside the city of Koudougou in Burkina Faso. This land-locked African nation is one of the poorest in the world. Veronica also plans on similar trips to Sierra Leone, Chad, and Ethiopia despite protests from various groups. Thousands attribute recovery from illness or grevious injuries to her powers, which she does not attest to a particular religion leading some religious figures to claim that she is either a charlatan or a servant of the devil. This is Chad Chadderly reporting live from Koudougou."

Lucus was sick. And he was tired. And he was altogether sick AND tired. He took a deep breath and shoved his fingers through his shortly cropped hair. Then he shook his head and chuckled, "Lily, when are you going to stop doing this to me? It's like you specifically target me or sum'tin"
Lucus wasn't an average man, in fact, he had never really been an average man, but since being able to move objects around with his mind, he had become even less average than before.

Telekinesis, what a drag.

Sighing he got up slowly, rubbing his sore ass,
"You coulda given me a softer landing. I thought you were getting the hang 'o this?"

Lucus' accent was a little misplaced, it seemed to come and go whenever he pleased. It could be because he had previously been an actor, even if he hadn't been a very good one. An Australian actor. Sheesh... those aussies never went anywhere...
Moving to New York had been the best career move of his life... except that he'd found out that he could move things with his mind. Damn that Elliot!!
Telekinesis and he wasn't able to get himself out of some freakin vines! Go figure.

"Lily, when are you going to stop doing this to me? It's like you specifically target me or sum'tin"

Lily grinned, "Oh good, you're okay then? It serves you right, even you shouldn't be awake at this hour," she teased him. In some ways, she had grown to like him like a brother. Only in some ways. Her face darkened and she frowned. When had it turned into love? Between bursting into flame and crying in his arms, when had she fallen in love with Greg? She'd known it for a while now... but it still seemed to shock her. She only figured it out after he left. And she had never been able to tell him. She wasn't sure even if she wanted to tell him.

"You coulda given me a softer landing. I thought you were getting the hang 'o this?"

She shook her head, "Sorry Lucus, you know as well as I do exactly what I can and can't do...What are you doing up anyway?" she asked, watching as the now dead vines sagged to the ground. Wouldn't it have been easier to just stop them growing? No... Earth was one of the hardest elements that she had control over. Often, using other elements were the only way to stop something she had no control over....
