Regarding the mosque near ground zero, Cain opposes it because it's too close to ground zero. Turns out that having a mosque 900 miles away in Tennessee is also too close to ground zero:
"It is an infringement and an abuse of our freedom of religion," he said. "And I don't agree with what's happening, because this isn't an innocent mosque."
Cain has been asked by Salon.com and other organizations why he thinks this particular mosque is up to no good but has refused to answer. Here's the mosque's website: http://www.icmtn.org/
"It is another example of why I believe in American laws and American courts," Cain said. "This is just another way to try to gradually sneak Shariah law into our laws, and I absolutely object to that."
Yes that's right, Cain is in full paranoid unison with Republicans that Muslims Americans are going to re-write the constitution. By the way, anyone know what Cain meant by saying he agrees with American laws and American courts? A bunch of bigots like him challenged the mosque on legal grounds (they tried to convince a judge that the mosque "harms residents") and the court instantly threw out their case. He seems a little confused here.
Cain has also said he would never appoint a Muslim as a judge or to any kind of appointed post if he was president "because Muslims aren't dedicated to the country or to the constitution". “And based upon the little knowledge that I have of the Muslim religion, you know, they have an objective to convert all infidels or kill them,” Cain said.
