As some of you know and all of you will know now, I am in the process of packing, sorting, and tossing shit for a move in the near future.

As I was packing up my 51 teapots and my 3 dozen state and country refrigerator magnets, I wondered... Am I stupid? and... What do other people collect?

Well, judging by the above responses... I am stupid. You all have better collections than do I. LOL

I can't imagine you laying still long enough for you to collect dust. How often does Freya2 "dust" your ass?

I collect magazines.

I didn't know you were moving.
I collect books, which is a given. And keychains for some weird reason. I really don't know how that happened.

OMG yes... BOOKS! I have a zillion of those to pack, too.

My daughter collects keychains, like you do. She has some really neat ones.

Besides killer dust bunnies, I collect books, angels and snow globes.

Right about now I'm glad I'm not moving anytime soon. The thought of having to pack my snowglobes makes me cringe.

Without even trying, I seem to have an amazing ability to collect vast quantities of miscellaneous pieces of paper.

and pennies.

Yes... snowglobes would be scary to pack up. My teapots sure were. Some are antique and some were expensive and most have priceless sentimental value.

Damn I collect movies, software, games and cobwebs.

DVD or VHS? I am trying to convert to DVD for the space factor, if no other reason.

The majority is VHS, but slowly the DVD's are replacing. So much less hastle and storage space required.

I'm not sure that my snowglobes are expensive but the sentimental value of them makes them priceless to me. My favorite one was from a resident that I took care of, her family gave it to me after she passed. If it ever got broke I'd be beside myself.

My thoughts.................

(that and old beer cans)

I had a friend who collected old beer and pop caps, then had them imbedded (is the the right word?) on the top of his bar counter. It was pretty cool, looking.

ADR...I am doing exactly the same thing, but I have been doing it for a week now, with little gain. I am finally making a little progress today, though.

You are not stupid for collecting, what moves you moves you.

I collect old perfume bottles, vintage jewelry and clothing, milk glass, Homer Laughlin dishes, (though the kids broke half my collection of bowls) Texas Ware, old pyrex bowls, (the kind with the floral patterns) cookbooks, old gardening books, and vintage tablecloths and linens.
I hope to someday complete my set of Goldcastle china, it is a little pricey and is hard to come by. I've been collecting it piece by piece for several years.
I really enjoy finding unusual, mismatched pieces of china and mixing it all together to make a new set, such as solid color plates, patterned bowls, and then a complimentary colored wine glass.

Though I never meant to, I seem to be collecting magazines and books...I just can't part with them. I must have about 300 magazines, and that is what I am starting to toss right now. Dunno if I can do it.....

Enjoy your packing/sorting, I am having the best time digging through old stuff and getting organized.

I have had little trouble packing and tossing and giving away but the one room I cannot walk into yet is my sewing room. There is absolutely nothing in there I will part with and it will be such a job to pack it up. I have 5 sewing machines alone... and yards and yards of fabric... Sigh.
